I have researched and observed job listings for 5 years. This month of July was VERY slow. My prediction has a good part and a bad part. The bad part is that the postings will remain slow in August as well. This is a good time to take a vacation and recharge those batteries. The good part is that September will see a surge in postings. I’ll be publishing a piece in the Fall to actually quantify the number of postings by month.
I attended SF Business Times Philanthropy breakfast today (July 23, 2009). This is annual event where the top 60 corporate philanthropists are recognized. Despite the recession, these companies stepped up to the plate and increased their giving compared to last year. My hats go off to Give Something Back, an office supply company and the smallest business there that gives over 50% of their profits to nonprofits.
My 2 favorite quotes were from Craig Newmark of Craigslist and Janet Lamkin, the California State President for Bank of America.
I was so pleased to find this useful thought-piece about where CSR officers sit within a company and their key attributes. I have consulted on this topic at Clorox and was impressed by their access to several CSR Officers. David Grayson co-author and recruiting firm in the UK, OdgersBerndtson is the other author. http://bit.ly/cTm8b
