GB Talent Show: CSOs are Everywhere, But Are Their Days Numbered?

Sep 28, 2011 | GreenBiz Talent Show, What We Think

For this GreenBiz Talent Show article, I lbegged the question, “should the CEO be the CSO?”  I look at PUMA and Coca-Cola.
Muhtar Kent, the CEO of Coca-Cola has stated publicly that he is the company’s CSO.  Then he realized that the CSO is a full time responsibility so he later appointed Bea Perez.
PUMA’s CEO Jochen Zeitz is now the CSO of their holding company PPR.
Both of these companies are on the verge of doing something big.  They are on my radar.
When a CEO is the main spokesperson for CSR and sustainability does that make him the CSO?
