Position Overview:
Position Summary:
The position will be based in Decatur, IL and will report directly to the Manager of Corporate Sustainability.
This position supports Archer Daniels Midland Company’s (ADM) global sustainability program and the internal and external reporting of the company’s sustainability initiatives, as well as, internal sustainability projects. Working closely in support of business unit leadership and with Legal, Operations, Communications, and other cross-functional corporate stakeholders, the Sustainability Reporting Specialist supports significant portions of Company’s’ Sustainability messaging and ratings. The Sustainability Reporting Specialist supports the sustainability organization by leveraging their reporting knowledge and communications skills to drive improvements in the company’s sustainability reputation and rating and ranking scores.
Job Responsibilities:
- Manage and maintain expertise on Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI), Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), Task Force on Climate-related Financial
- Disclosures (TCFD), Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB) and other annual responses. Track and measure the sustainability reporting initiatives and identify gaps via benchmarking
- Monitor and benchmark reporting trends and changes to reporting standards to provide insights and recommendations on advancing company’s external reporting practices
- Provide sales and RFP support, identify and prioritize stakeholder questionnaires and surveys. Contribute to the development and review of responses to surveys from investors, suppliers, etc.
- Develop communication materials for website, sales team, and external stakeholders
- Assist with Sedex, EcoVadis and other sustainability assessment programs and audits
- Assist with data collection for quarterly Board of Directors and Executive Management reporting, annual and semi-annual sustainability reports, and rating/ranking questionnaires
- Identify and implement new technologies to support global sustainability reporting and communication tasks
- Any other responsibilities, as may be considered necessary to support and advise management on ADM’s sustainability efforts
Job Requirements:
- Two (2) or more years of experience in a corporate setting with focus on ESG (environment, social, governance) reporting to investors, or responsibility in a sustainability or corporate social governance position, preferred
- Experience with and knowledge of ESG, sustainability and corporate responsibility reporting platforms, preferred
- Validated strong problem-solving skills, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis
- Microsoft Office Skills – PowerPoint, Word, Excel
- Strong written communication skills
- Ability to grasp concepts quickly and exercise follow-through skills, adhere to a work schedule and address challenges as they arise
- Must be proficient in English, although knowledge of another language would be beneficial
- Must be proficient in collecting, understanding and presenting complex technical data to non-technical audiences
- Experience working in or supporting an international business is preferred
- High level of motivation, team-player attitude, and results-oriented way of working
- 15-30% travel estimated
