Position Overview:

ALLIANCE FOR TRANSPORTATION ELECTRIFICATION (ATE)
Title: Assistant Director of Communications and Member Services

Employer background:
The Alliance is a 501(c)(6) non-profit corporation established to advocate for an accelerated pace of clean transportation programs at the state level. We primarily engage with state public utility commissions in utility filings for electric vehicle programs and advancement of transportation electrification in a state. ATE actively engages in utility regulatory proceedings in the U.S. We engage with policymakers at the state and local government level to remove barriers to EV adoption and to encourage the acceleration of EV infrastructure deployment with a particular emphasis on open standards and interoperability. We currently have about 60 members, including electric utilities, autoand bus manufacturers, EV charging companies, as well as trade associations and NGOs.

Job Duties:

  • Promote policies of the ATE by assisting the Executive Director in developing a consistent narrative and message
  • Distribute and disseminate certain speeches of the Executive Director and Senior Advisors, and the filings and comments through a variety of communication channels, including social media
  • Assist the leadership of the Committees, and the several Task Forces, in editing the white papers or issue briefs to final form, and working with graphics design, as appropriate, to produce the final for publication
  • Regularly update the website of the Alliance with recent filings of the Alliance with state commissions and agencies, and related studies and papers
  • Assist the Executive Director in writing and regularly posting a blog
  • Travel with the Executive Director to certain energy and utility regulatory and policy conferences, NARUC, and other energy conferences important to the Alliance;
  • Manage communications with other non-profit organization (NGOs) and trade associations aligned with the mission and activities of ATE in the EV ecosystem
  • Assist in the vetting and prioritization of speaking invitations
  • Develop positive communications to counter and contrast the narrative of opponents or skeptics of transportation electrification
  • Identify and help recruit new members
  • Maintain communications with members of and help ensure their access to benefits and services
  • Onboard new members including engaged them in committees and task forces

Education & Experience:

  • B.A., required in a discipline related to economics and energy
  • Work experience in the fields of clean energy, transportation electrification, electric vehicles, renewable energy, or utility regulation

Preferred:

  • Advanced degree in a discipline relevant to energy, economics, public policy
  • Experience in these fields at the state level, such as a public utility commission, state energy office, legislative staff
  • 3-5+ years of work experience in these fields
  • Experience in research, analysis, and development of papers or briefs in the field of clean transportation
  • Background and experience in the fields of state energy and regulatory policies such as state renewable portfolio plans, clean energy or decarbonization plans, greenhouse gas reduction policies, and transportation and utility program incentives

Travel Expectations:

  • Remote work is possible
  • Regular travel to conferences, workshops, and other venues is likely
  • Occasional travel to the ATE office in Seattle and for meetings of the Senior Advisors and staff in various locations

Compensation:

  • Overall salary of $135,000, including multiple benefits, subject to discussion
  • Benefits will include medical, dental, and vision.
