Position Overview:

The Position:

The Sustainability Analyst will report directly to the Global Vice President of Sustainability, who in turn reports directly to the Chief Risk & Compliance Officer and Executive Chair of ESG. The Sustainability Analyst will be responsible for developing and managing a global sustainability program.

  • Support the development of an industry-leading global program that is designed to evolve with emergent trends in the Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) space, avoid risk and capitalize on opportunities.
  • Externally, help to establish GBT as the expert and efficient marketplace for green business travel. Be customer obsessed. Support the creation and monetization of sustainability-focused products and service. Demonstrate to our clients and travellers that sustainability is our competitive edge with end-to-end solutions, strategic partnerships, technological advancements, and constant innovation. Synthesize and translate complex scientific research into actionable advice for the business. Empower the sales team with a sustainability playbook.
  • Internally, help execute the sustainability goals of the enterprise to achieve stated targets (e.g., carbon neutrality, RE100, science-based targets initiative (SBTi), net zero, waste diversion from landfills, water reductions and efficiencies). Create collateral and materials that clearly communicate program strategy, goals and metrics to all levels of the organization.
  • Support the development of industry thought leadership that drives the travel sector towards net zero with advocacy and lobbying. Conduct research and provide subject matter expertise regarding sustainable aviation fuels and carbon removal technologies. Help to create a Green Forum that connects sustainability-focused business partners through expert commercial engagement and supply chain management.
  • Maintain environmental accreditations and certificates, regulatory reporting and filings, including without limitation: Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP); Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures (TCFD); Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB); UK Streamlined Energy and Carbon Reporting (SECR) Regulations; ISO 14001 (Environmental Management System); United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs); Global Reporting Initiative (GRI); EcoVadis, and additional leading frameworks.
  • Embed sustainability into all aspects of the business. Provide subject matter expertise and function as a trusted adviser to key internal stakeholders including: Technology for product development; Commercial for sales enablement; Consulting for sustainability guidance; Procurement for supply chain management; Real Estate for operational efficiency; Human Resources for employee engagement. Foster the development of an eco-conscious culture that transforms every GBT employee into an environmental ambassador promoting sustainability throughout the travel industry and establishing GBT as the leader in this space.

The Candidate:

The successful candidate will be a proven leader in Sustainability with the following qualifications:

  • 2+ years of relevant experience.
  • Advanced degree preferred (e.g., Law, Engineering, Climate Science, Environmental Science, Sustainability).
  • Demonstrated ability to execute results on several complex projects at the same time.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills required, including written and verbal presentation skills. Excellent advisory and influencing ability required to work collaboratively and effectively with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders including senior management, industry leader, and – most importantly – customers.
  • Preferred expertise regarding sustainable aviation fuel but not required.
  • Preferred experience in corporate philanthropy and charitable giving but not required.
