Position Overview:

The Sustainability Analyst will support the Director of Sustainability in the execution of company sustainability projects and programs with a focus on data analysis and project management.

The Sustainability Analyst will be the primary owner of company environmental data including the application of continuous improvement methods to increase the effectiveness of these systems (in terms of accuracy, actionability, and efficiency). This includes the management and optimization of the company’s environmental resource accounting system, reporting to various retailer and other sustainability reporting platforms, and mining the dataset for insights into the highest value environmental project opportunities.

Additionally, the Sustainability Analyst will provide coordination, research, and project management of company environmental resource efficiency projects under the direction of the Director of Sustainability.

To be successful in this role, the Sustainability Analyst will need strong quantitative skills, the ability to communicate complex information clearly, and an understanding of environmental, social, and economic issues. They should also be able to work effectively in a team and be willing to take on a leadership role in driving sustainability efforts within the organization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Sustainability Analyst will be responsible for general coordination and support of the following:

Sustainability Data Analysis and Reporting

· Maintain the company resource accounting platform and ensure accuracy as system of record

· Increase the reach, effectiveness, and interoperability of the company resource accounting platform and identify key insights and opportunities that can be leveraged into high-value environmental impact reduction projects

· Conduct research and analysis to better understand (and reduce) Amy’s environmental impact (including greenhouse gas emissions, waste generation, and water/wastewater resource use) through the use of Life Cycle Assessment, GHG accounting, Zero Waste/resource efficiency, and other data driven environmental methodologies

· Act as the point person across the organization in reporting to B-Corp, THESIS, 10 x 20 x 30, and various retailer sustainability surveys

Sustainability Project Support

· Support the Director of Sustainability in the development, planning, and execution of high value environmental resource efficiency opportunities

· Seek and achieve 3rd party verifications and certifications related to corporate sustainability performance such as True Zero Waste Certification

· Provide an internal resource to other departments by coordinating and providing project management support to environmental impact related projects at Amy’s manufacturing plants

· Provide Sustainability department with as-needed project support, including but not limited to scheduling meetings, taking notes, research assignment, and data entry

· Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION

· Bachelor’s degree, preferably in environmental studies or a related topic; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

EXPERIENCE

· Collecting and organizing complex data sets

· Developing analytical models to create actionable insights

· Some level of experience coordinating sustainability projects in a business or related high-paced organizational environment

· Prior experience working in manufacturing context preferred

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

· Knowledge of environmental issues including energy & water use, GHG accounting and waste stream optimization

· Knowledge and understanding of corporate sustainability best practices and trends

· Excellent communication and organizational skills

· Basic knowledge of food manufacturing industry, preferably with natural and organic products

· Basic facilitation and public speaking experience

· Ability to prioritize tasks and deadlines while working on multiple projects

· General computer knowledge with a high degree of proficiency with Microsoft Excel

LANGUAGE SKILLS

· Proficiency in both English and Spanish preferred

TRAVEL

Minimal, to plant locations and headquarters in Petaluma, California.

California Compensation Range: $69,200 – $96,900
