Position Overview:
Arcadis is seeking an ESG Due Diligence Consultant to join our Technical Due Diligence Team in North America. Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) risks and opportunities are now a key consideration when buying, operating, selling, or refinancing a property. Real Estate professionals need to understand current ESG risks and importantly, the opportunities to unlock value and meet regulatory or tenant expectations. The core responsibilities for this position will support client real-estate transactions with ESG assessments, carbon assessments, green building considerations, sustainability metrics, and NetZero targets. This role is remote and can be based anywhere in the US.
Smart acquisitions or property sales are rooted in an in-depth understanding of the asset. Our Arcadis team of technical professionals provides our clients with a complete assessment of their building and the condition and life expectancy of its components including the latest thinking in ESG due diligence.

Role description:
We are looking for an experienced ESG Due Diligence consultant to join our North America Technical Advisory group. We are a dynamic team, focused on delivering transaction solutions to our clients across a wide range of sectors, from industrial facilities, to financial, residential and many others in between. Often, we will be working with other Arcadis teams undertaking asset or commercial due diligence, both in North America and internationally. Increasingly the team are delivering ESG solutions and working with our Sustainability Advisory colleagues to deliver post-transaction solutions to asset and property portfolios. Although the role is based in our transaction team, there will be scope to grow your skills and capabilities within the wider Technical Advisory teams. The pace will be fast and the environment dynamic and you have the support of senior colleagues and the People First approach of the Arcadis culture.
The focus of the role will be supporting our team’s response to opportunities, supporting winning proposals, delivering technically excellent projects to ensure our clients highest expectations are fulfilled and helping grow the team revenues.
Role accountabilities:
This role will provide sustainability services for a broad range for public and private sector clients. This is a diverse role with many potential opportunities to technically support clients on their sustainability journey. The role will support growth and delivery of the Technical Advisory Team by:
- Undertaking Environmental /Sustainability/Governance Gap Analysis and identification of opportunities for improvement
- Developing Environmental Management Systems (EMS), including EMS certified to ISO4001
- Producing Sustainability Strategies and Policies
- Producing Climate Adaptation / Resilience Strategies
- Producing Net Zero Carbon Strategies and associated Science Based Targets
- Undertaking carbon accounting or environmental performance data monitoring & reporting, analyzing data and development of sustainability metrics/ KPI’s
- Stakeholder engagement for complex Environmental & Sustainability issues at a Senior Stakeholder Level
- Advisory services to Clients to support the implementation of the above deliverables.
- Working with others in Arcadis to drive the required Organizational change to enable successfully implementation programs for our Clients.
- Working with the Technical Advisory Lead and others to develop and grow existing Client accounts, including Client Development, proposal writing, pricing and management of pursuits.
- Providing delivery support to the Sustainability Advisory Team and wider Arcadis Teams when required.
- Support with building relationships with stakeholders in the Arcadis business to develop understanding of the Sustainability Advisory capability
- Assisting with the development of sustainability thought leadership within Arcadis, our external profile and also with clients.
- Ability to review work of juniors in the team.
- Assisting with mentoring others to support the growth of the Sustainability Advisory Service area.
- Required travel with overnight stays 40%-60% of time
Qualifications & Experience:
Key attributes & skills:
- Strong analytical and report writing skills, including efficient preparation of ESG Due Diligence reports and Environmental Phase I desk study assessments.
- Experience of different formats of digital presentation of report findings would be an advantage
- Strong and demonstrable people and communication skills
- Experience in line management would be an advantage though line management of others is not a specific requirement of the role
- In this role, the ability to thrive under pressure and rise to the challenge of our client’s transaction timeframes is essential
- A clear thinking person demonstrating attention to detail who is well organized and can operate independently under a broad direction.
- A team player who can develop and maintain excellent relationships and gain the confidence of other professionals both within the Company and outside.

Required qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in a relevant field with demonstratable experience in working in transaction environments with a detailed understanding of technical ESG issues and commercial matters
- 10 years of relevant experience

In accordance with the Colorado/New Your City, Connecticut Equal Pay Transparency Rules:
Arcadis offers benefits for full time positions. These benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage along with a 401K plan, STD and LTD, and Life Insurance as well as some additional optional benefits.
Full time positions also come with annual PTO days and at certain levels a bonus program may apply.
The Salary range for this role is $101,000 – $128,000.
