Avaya is seeking a highly motivated professional with experience managing both Corporate Social Responsibility and Environment, Health and Safety. Reporting to the Deputy General Counsel, you will be responsible for strategic direction and developing corporate policy, implementing programs and assessing program success for the three programs: Avaya Corporate Responsibility, Environment, Health and Safety and Philanthropy. This position can be based anywhere in the US.

Responsibilities

Address customers, investors and other stakeholders’ inquiries directly and through the annual CR Report and Avaya website. Annually update Avaya’s CR Report, submit CDP carbon and water reports, respond to the EcoVadis survey and other information platforms to ensure comprehensive and current data to be used to drive and document progress. Direct the India Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs and as chair of the India CSR Team, report quarterly to the Avaya India Board regarding organizations supported and project achievements. Co-chair the Avaya Safety Committee and report on job-related Injury/Illnesses worldwide including the OSHA required reports. Utilize the injury/illness data to develop programs and initiatives to reduce incidents.In this time of COVID-19, monitor and report on COVID-19 research and advise management on safe work practices

Additional Responsibilites

Manage four remediation research projects (in four different states) that have cost reserves of roughly $3 million. The projects require active oversight to ensure the remedial and monitoring activities continue as required by the regulations and that the agency reports are submitted according to schedule. Manage communications between the property owners (as Avaya no longer owns the remediation locations), the remediation consultants and the regulatory agencies. Support Avaya Product Design’s ISO 14001 registration and provide regulatory direction on environmental product content requirements such as Conflict Minerals, RoHS, REACH, SCIP and product life cycle requirements such as WEEE. This requires tracking global environmental product legislation and regulation and in the case of Conflict Minerals, submitting reports to the Securities and Exchange Commission. Represent Avaya in the Responsible Business Alliance and the Responsible Mineral Alliance organizations. Lead the Month of Giving which is an annual event that encourages employee engagement around the world during October. Chair the Avaya Philanthropy Committee, manage the Avaya Charitable Fund and perform due diligence before approving company donations.

Qualifications

8-10 years of manager experience in Corporate Social Responsibility/Sustainability and Environment, Health and Safety particularly including environmental remediation.
Minimum 4-year degree related to Corporate Social Responsibility, Sustainability or Environment, Health and Safety. Proficient at assessing situations, determine strategy and develop programs, policies and procedures to address the root cause. Ability to gain credibility and trust across the organization by providing practical, timely, and sound direction. Capable of managing independently with minimal supervision competing deadlines, multiple contracts, various consulting personnel and variety of global issues. Significant experience with managing and reporting Corporate Responsibility data and information. #LI-NA1
