Environment Protection Specialist, Junior

Key Role:

Provide technical and programmatic support related to Environmental Management System (EMS) and Environmental Compliance programs. Support Environmental Management System (EMS) implementation activities. Monitor metrics to track progress towards EMS and Executive Order goals, update EMS procedures, conduct internal EMS audits, and facilitate EMS cross-functional team meetings. Leverage knowledge of Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations, including training, guidance and policy analysis, conduct environmental compliance audits, and facilitate meetings with environmental professionals. Review existing and proposed regulations, and executive orders for understanding, accurate interpretation, and effective application to client programs. Analyze and summarize data to prepare and submit reports on a recurring basis. Complete other general management tasks, as required.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 1+ years of experience with environmental compliance and consulting
  • Experience with ISO 14001:2015 or Environmental Management Systems (EMS)
  • Experience with facilitating meetings
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of Environmental Management Systems (EMS) Internal Auditing
  • Knowledge of federal environmental Executive Orders and associated targets and reporting requirements
  • Ability to develop environmental training and guidance, and analyze policy
  • Ability to maintain environmental program data in SharePoint for tracking and reporting
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance
  • BA or BS degree

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience with conducting research both independently and in a team environment
  • Knowledge of EPA regulations
  • Knowledge of FAA internal systems and processes
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks proactively and simultaneously
  • Ability to work independently and in a collaborative environment
  • Ability to communicate and coordinate with agency stakeholders
  • Ability to create and lead technical presentations to management
  • Possession of excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • MA or MS degree in Environmental Studies, Science, or Engineering preferred
