JOB DESCRIPTION
**Remote Opportunity** The Lead, Sustainability Specialist will be responsible for better understanding, cultivating, and marketing the sustainability benefits of a holistic, end-to-end sustainable tire program. You will be responsible for creating a sustainable tire management and retreading program by developing a study in partnership with key stakeholders and experts. Help quantify carbon, water, land-use, and landfill savings enabled by the use of more sustainable tire practices, particularly as compared to the use of low-cost non-retreaded import tires. This is an impactful and critical role for the company and our community.
RESPONSIBILITIES
(60%) Build Fact-based Sustainable Tire Marketing Program
- Identify/recommend academic partners to develop and manage a study to quantify the end-to-end benefits of a sustainable tire program, starting with raw material harvesting and processing, through logistics, use and retreading, and ultimately disposal.
- Work with an academic partner to create a “burning platform†for sustainable tire management and retreading.
- Manage study timelines and budget
- Design/scope study and deliverables
- Work alongside academic partners to actively support the study (e.g., collect relevant internal and industry data, manage tire purchases and installs at fleet partners, manage tire measurements, etc).
- Help develop partnerships with fleet, dealer, and industry groups to create industry standards and tools to promote the adoption of sustainable tire programs.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders at Bridgestone e.g., Sustainability, Sales Engineering, Commercial tire team, and dealers.
- Work with academic partners on development, review, and marketing of final deliverables.
- Help quantify carbon, water, land-use, and landfill savings enabled by the use of more sustainable tire practices, particularly as compared to the use of low-cost non-retreaded import tires.
(40%) Cultivate relevant partnerships, develop tools and marketing material to support awareness and adoption of sustainable tire programs
- Work with the Marketing team, communications, and agency partners to develop compelling PR, marketing material, and tools to promote the “sustainable tire program†message.
- Support fleet and dealers in their promotion of sustainable tire policies, e.g., –
- Fleet certifications or awards
- CO2 savings calculators
- Forge partnerships with select industry leaders to demonstrate & market benefits of sustainable tire programs
- Work with government / regulatory affairs teams to develop material to support pro-retread legislation
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree
8 years of Environmental / Sustainability studies, marketing, or PR. experience.
High energy and drive and a keen passion for sustainability.
Preferred qualifications:
Master’s degree in Environmental Science or similar preferred with 6+ years of experience in
Experience helping manufacturers understand, develop, and market sustainability programs.
