About the Team

The Canva Print team is enabling the best creation tool in the world for print products and igniting the power of Canva to a vast array of physical products from common paper products to textiles, home decor, apparel, photos gifts and more.
Growing Canva Print has become a key goal this year and our group is doubling down on doing a wide range of new product initiatives to drive the team’s growth while developing e-commerce foundations to accelerate Canva’s vision to empower the world to truly design anything, and publish anywhere.

We’ve seen incredible growth, and we are rapidly scaling in this space, but there is a whole lot more to do to achieve our vision, and that’s where you come in!

Role Mission

The Print Operations team is looking for a Product Sustainability & Compliance Manager that will develop global compliance processes that allow the Canva Print business to continue to scale quickly! The Product Sustainability & Compliance Manager is accountable for ensuring that Canva takes an industry leading position in developing and sourcing safe products and creating continuous process improvement to address evolving compliance, sustainability and social requirements. This individual will implement materials, processes, and work with print providers in the manufacturing of Canva products as we work on achieving carbon neutrality and carbon positive goals in the coming years.

We’re looking for an experienced leader ideally based in San Francisco, CA or Austin, TX.

What you’ll do

  • Ensure products continuously align with Canva’s quality, performance, and reliability globally as well as industry safety and regulatory requirements worldwide
  • Develop sustainability initiatives and targets to align with Carbon neutral and Carbon positive goals
  • Ensure that our Global Print Partners adhere to industry safety and regulatory requirements
  • Planning and implementing complex projects across multiple organizations and team members to enable the launch of projects and processes at scale
  • Driving consensus for the safety and compliance strategy with key internal partners
  • Making data-driven recommendations to senior management on prioritization of controls for product safety and compliance
  • Earning trust of business partners by understanding business plans and constraints, anticipating safety and compliance challenges and proactively communicating effective solutions
  • Developing periodic business reviews by creating and monitoring business metrics to track process effectiveness

What we’re looking for

  • Demonstrated leader who has played an instrumental role in building, leading, and growing a hard working team in the Print On-Demand (PoD) industry.
  • Depth of knowledge in the Apparel is preferred.
  • Extensive experience working with audit, testing and certification partners to create a simple and scalable process for our products.
  • Knowledge and implementation of worldwide safety & compliance requirements, product compliance processes and the interplay with global supply chains
  • 8+ years of dynamic compliance experience in high-growth companies, E-commerce physical product fulfillment in a global setting is a requirement
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Experience in a program management, product management, risk management, analytics or business intelligence role
  • Bias toward action; understands what it means to adapt quickly, pivot, have a growth mindset, collaborate cross-functionally, and bring people together towards a common goal.
  • Hands-on Manager willing to work directly with our Print partners on site with audits, review and process implementation changes.
  • Demonstrate critical thinking and analytic skills (including problem-solving), as well as the ability and confidence to draw conclusions, formulate recommendations and partner with colleagues to implement findings.
  • Able to handle multiple tasks, demonstrates flexibility in readiness to prioritize and maintain a result-orientation.
