Position Overview:
General Definition
Announced in Anticipation of Approval by the Administrative Board
This is managerial environmental planning work directing the sustainability program for a large hub international airport. The employee in this class directs, through a subordinate supervisor, the activities of a staff engaged in airport and environmental planning work in the oversight , implementation, monitoring, and reporting for the Division of Aviation’s sustainability program. The employee is responsible for implementing and overseeing all sustainability-related strategy, goals, policies, and plans and aligning them with the capital improvement program. Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with airport staff, tenants, consultants, contractors, airline representatives, customers, community groups, and the general public are significant to the work. Work is performed under the general direction of a Deputy Director of Aviation.

Minimum Training, Education & Experience
The following statement represents the minimum training and experience standards which will be used to admit or reject applicants for tests. Candidates must meet requirements within 30 days after the last date for filing applications.
1. CIVIL SERVICE STATUS:
Presently employed by the City of Philadelphia with permanent Civil Service status in the Commerce Department with a performance rating of Satisfactory or higher.
AND
2. EDUCATION:
Completion of a bachelor’s degree program at an accredited college or university with major course work in architecture, aviation management, engineering, environmental science, sustainability, transportation, urban planning or a closely related field.
AND
3. GENERAL EXPERIENCE:
Seven years of experience in architecture, engineering, environmental science, sustainability, planning, airport management or operations.
AND
4. SPECIFIC EXPERIENCE
Two years of supervisory experience directing sustainability related programs for a large university, public agency or hub airport.
Physical & Medical Requirements
Ability to physically perform the duties and to work in the environmental conditions required of a position in this class.
Required Licenses & Certifications
Must possess a valid proper class motor vehicle operator’s license as issued by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania prior to appointment and during tenure of employment as an Airport Sustainability Manager.
Must pass and maintain SIDA (Security Identification Display Area) and AOA (Airfield Operations Area) clearance at the time of appointment and during tenure of employment as an Airport Sustainability Manager.

Candidates with a degree from foreign colleges or universities must submit proof of degree as certified by a professional evaluation service.
