About the Job:
The Sr. Manager, Corporate Sustainability will support the development and implementation of a company-wide sustainability strategy and related programs for Culligan. You will foster a collaborative environment leading cross-enterprise projects and working with internal partners to ensure sustainability initiatives enhance Culligan’s performance and contribute to stakeholder value. You will help drive Culligan’s sustainability goals and enhance the company reputation and brand appeal.
As the Sr. Manager, Corporate Sustainability, you will:
- Work collaboratively across the company (e.g., with the retail businesses, supply chain, legal, operations, marketing, finance, HR, etc.) to develop, refine, and implement an integrated and coordinated sustainability plan on an ongoing basis.
- Assist in developing and implementing an integrated sustainability strategy and material initiatives, with associated goals designed to drive positive commercial outcomes, reduce risk, and ensure continuity, while enhancing brand value.
- Collaborate with business leaders to ensure sustainability is embedded into products and services for Culligan’s home and business customers.
- Help evaluate and provide input into departmental strategies, technologies, partnerships, and business models to achieve company greenhouse gas emission reduction targets and sustainable water management practices.
- Engage with diverse group of external stakeholders including investors, rating agencies, sustainability standards bodies, and industry and academic groups to stay up to date on market trends and standards in corporate sustainability programs.
- Help build partnerships with climate-tech innovation ecosystem.
- Manage ongoing reporting including Culligan’s annual CSR Report, industry surveys, and engage with key ESG ratings and rankings organizations.
- Partner with senior leadership and Investor Relations to ensure they are apprised of external sustainability trends, best in class frameworks (SASB and TCFD) and internal priorities and strategies.
- Help build sustainability metrics into short and long-term business planning, capital planning, and operations planning.
- Collaborate with key internal stakeholders to develop internal and external communication strategies to publicize the company’s sustainability efforts and promote broad awareness of initiatives including the annual CSR Report.
- Collaborate with Corporate Communications and Marketing to ensure Culligan is represented in sustainability networks and related industry events.
- Serve as subject matter expert on sustainability, monitoring emerging trends, programs, and issues, and communicating and educating others on relevant topics.
- Provide guidance on company responses to questions or statements of position on sustainability-related matters including potential policy positions.
- Help identify and prioritize areas for institutional sustainability efforts and recommend strategies for proactively addressing relevant environmental, social, and governance risks and opportunities in the short, medium, and long term.
Education and Experience:
- The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years’ experience working in corporate sustainability and/or strategy field.
- Bachelor’s degree preferably in environmental, engineering, or related science degree required, MBA or master’s degree strongly preferred.
- Experience establishing and delivering strategies across cross-functional teams is strongly preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Strong commitment to drive sustainability efforts leveraging industry knowledge, and experience with environmental agencies, responsible sourcing, water stewardship, public health and other sustainable development issues and best practices.
- Ability to help develop and communicate a clear strategy and priorities.
- Ability to extract insights & analytics into succinct action plans for teams, driving positive impact
- Deep and broad network within sustainability, environmental, and other related communities required.
- Strong knowledge of ESG landscape including the various voluntary reporting frameworks and associated carbon accounting protocols required.
- Knowledge of water industry decarbonization pathways and associated technologies strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of sustainable product and service offerings in the water industry strongly preferred.
- Some experience with external speaking engagements and comfort delivering internal presentations to senior management required.
- Outstanding written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills and the ability to communicate complex concepts while inspiring the audience.
- Strong research, analytical, organizational, creative, and strategic thinking skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously from conception to implementation.
- Ability to apply knowledge of business and the marketplace to help advance the organization’s sustainability goals.
