In this role, you will be a member of our rapidly growing Energy and Sustainability Division. This position is a great opportunity to join an industry leader in the Los Angeles, CA area.

The Senior Sustainability Manager position is senior-level position responsible for providing hands-on project delivery and program-level oversight of sustainability and climate services, specifically: strategic sustainability planning, climate action, resilience and climate adaptation, solid waste, energy, water, equity and inclusion, sustainable procurement, and corporate social responsibility/ESG. Services are provided for a variety of clients and projects managed by Cumming. This position will directly support clients in the transportation, education, and commercial sectors.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery of sustainability, climate, and environmental related services for a large transportation agency client, including delivering technical services, providing advice and assistance, and attending client meetings.
  • Implement and manage projects and programs and supervise sustainability team members.
  • Serve as a technical resource to clients and provide advice on program direction related to sustainability and climate projects.
  • Facilitate client strategic planning efforts and provide subject-matter expert input.
  • Proven experience to diplomatically resolve issues through understanding conflicting inputs, achieving alignment, and proposing go-forward solutions.
  • Develop annual report documents, communication pieces, and other internal and external communications related to sustainability programs and projects.
  • Develop tools, databases, and other tracking mechanisms to support sustainability program implementation and assessment.
  • Assess existing client sustainability and environmental programs and identify areas of opportunity and innovation.
  • Focus on collaboration and business development by seeking and building upon partnerships within the client relationships with external parties.
  • Provide regional, state, and national thought leadership in technology & sustainability.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Planning, Environmental Sciences, Engineering or related field from an accredited four-year college or university.
  • 10+ years’ of experience in the area of sustainability, climate action, environmental compliance, energy, or related field.
  • Excellence in clear, well-documented, and transparent accounting of all aspects of projects from budgeting and financing strategies to communication of outcomes.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in sustainability and climate technology, applications, industry trends, and best practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage partners in new solutions applicable within a Consulting environment as an Owner’s Representative.
  • Prior experience in director or senior level role.
  • LEED Accredited Professional, Envision Sustainability Professional, or ISSP Sustainability Certifications preferred.
