Position Overview:

HOW YOU’LL HELP US KEEP CLIMBING (OVERVIEW & KEY RESPONSIBILITIES)

The Project Manager-OBS Sustainability Strategy and Innovation is a proven leader who is responsible for developing and operationalizing strategic plans and achieving buy-in from key stakeholders and senior leaders. This position is also responsible for the design and implementation of programmatic process changes and large, complex projects. A successful candidate will leverage innovative thinking and will bring a disruptive mindset and fresh perspective to the design and development of new business models. This role is responsible for mobilizing relationships and resources to explore emerging opportunities in order to achieve breakthrough results by using strategic thinking and collaboration.

• Design and manage implementation of large, complex projects and programmatic process changes that are aligned with both the OBS and Delta-wide sustainability strategies
• Developing action plans to mitigate project risks, resolve gating issues and operational dependencies
• Managing transformation activities to fit within financial analysis, targeted savings and budget commitments
• Creating dashboards to provide continuous visibility to project progress and financial tracking
• Developing quality assurance, audit programs, skill assessments and systems to sustain change
• Develop and operationalize OBS sustainability strategic plans achieving buy-in from key stakeholders and senior leaders. Manage relationship to drive adoption, successful transition and sustainability of new processes and models. Ensure effective stakeholder engagement and communications. Maintains timelines and surfaces capacity, pacing, resourcing challenges and any other red flag issues to Manager OBS Sustainability Strategy and Innovation
• Collaborate with subject-matter experts responsible for leading projects within their respective function (e.g., OBS, IFS, Global Sustainability, Finance, Government Affairs, Global Clean, etc.) to develop comprehensive and impactful sustainability operational strategies, business plans, project plans, white papers, and presentations
• Develop and manage sustainability scorecards for monitoring OBS progress toward targeted goals and corporate reporting. Build needed tools to support these efforts. For example, business case models and templates, project initiation documents, measurements and tracking infrastructure (Major component of the role early on)
• Mobilize relationships and resources to explore emerging opportunities and understand the landscape of near-term and long-term innovations that may allow Delta to reduce our environmental footprint
• Practices safety-conscious behaviors in all operational processes and procedures

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED (MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS)

• Bachelor’s degree in a field related to business/management (Accounting, Finance, Economics, Public Policy), industrial engineering, or environmental science and 3 years professional experience in project management, process improvement, change management and/or related discipline or 7+ years of relevant project management work experience
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, ability to work effectively with colleagues across all levels and divisions of Delta and external business partners
• Proven ability to present strategies to senior leadership that reflect a clear case for change, analytics, desired outcomes, accurate scope, timelines, clear roles and responsibilities
• Skilled in managing financial performance and achievement of goals and KPI’s
• Ability to influence authority and navigate complex organizational dynamics
• Proven track record of independently driving business results
• Ability to work under tight deadlines and adapt to changing assignments
• Demanding work hours – flexibility required, possible travel
• Embraces diverse people, thinking, and styles
• Consistently makes safety and security, of self and others, the priority
• Where permitted by applicable law, must have received or be willing to receive the COVID-19 vaccine by date of hire to be considered for U.S.-based job, if not currently employed by Delta Air Lines, Inc.

WHAT WILL GIVE YOU A COMPETITIVE EDGE (PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS)

• Experience in project management (PMP, Agile, Lean, TQM or Six Sigma) strongly preferred
