With world attention on both the environment and the economy, Environmental Defense Fund (EDF) is where policymakers and business leaders turn for win-win solutions. By focusing on strong science, uncommon partnerships and market-based approaches, we tackle urgent threats with practical solutions. We are one of the world’s largest environmental organizations, with more than two million members and a staff of approximately 700 scientists, economists, policy experts, and other professionals around the world. EDF envisions a world in which people from all backgrounds and experiences feel connected to the environmental challenges we face and are engaged in creating durable, equitable solutions. We seek talented candidates who share our Core Values of Respect, Results, Innovation, Optimism, and Integrity, and support our Commitment to Diversity.

Overall Function

Investors represent a powerful force in accelerating the shift to a more sustainable and resilient economy. They influence the flow of trillions of dollars and are under increasing pressure to use their influence to drive change at carbon-intensive companies and to align investment portfolios with a more resilient future. Our vision is that by 2025, leading investors will be competing for climate leadership and using their influence and capital to drive change across carbon-intensive industries and scale investment in low carbon solutions.

Reporting to the Vice President, EDF+Business, the Associate Vice President (AVP) provides the overall vision, strategy, and leadership for the EDF+Business Investor Strategy efforts to accelerate climate leadership in the finance sector. The AVP collaborates with senior leaders and staff across EDF to identify opportunities, develop and implement projects, and advance the organization’s goals through effective and impactful private sector engagement. They are responsible for ensuring that the Investor Engagement initiative is structured, staffed, funded, and managed to support EDF-wide goals, deliver on current projects, and launch new, high-impact projects and collaborations.

To be successful, the AVP will demonstrate a strong spirit of collaboration, communicate with trust and transparency, and have a laser focus on achieving results, while building and maintaining durable partnerships.
