Position Overview:
Job Description
- Responsible for maintaining our operational sustainability goals, including collaborating across teams to implement programmatic improvements, delivering on critical metrics, and keeping key partners informed.
- Serve as a specialist for the entire organization on issues related to the sustainability of materials, packaging, supplies, and the circular economy. Work with teams across the company to develop programs for our sellers and our buyers that build leadership in these spaces.
- Support Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) work and related climate mapping projects.
- Responsible for sector-specific disclosures in collaboration with the Impact Reporting Senior Accountant and our Investor Relations team. This role will not be in charge of data collection, carbon accounting, or data assurance, but you will develop content for disclosures, such as CDP, to accompany metrics provided by the Impact Reporting Accountant.
- Field, vet, and manage new opportunities to build innovative partnerships and programs.
- Evaluate the practices of vendors and suppliers from an ecological sustainability perspective.
- Monitor environmental policies and regulations that may impact Etsy and our sellers. Prioritize when and where to lend our voice for change.
- Represent Etsy in industry coalitions and external working groups.
Qualifications
- You are a well rounded sustainability professional with deeper knowledge in the materials, packaging, supply chain, and circular economy spaces.
- Experience executing sustainability programs from ideation to execution. Adept at building business cases and seeking alignment from diverse partners to obtain approval for your ideas.
- Familiar with sustainability certifications and a strong point of view about the good, the bad and the ugly when it comes to their credibility and impact.
- Communicate clearly in a way that forms trust at every level and allows you to work across multiple teams in a dynamic environment.
- ‘Work out loud’ to arrive at solutions iteratively and collaboratively with team members.
- Data and spreadsheets are your friends! You love research and benchmarking. And you know how to integrate this information into your work.
- You have a passion for engaging people and teams to take action, learning new things and building innovative programs, all in the name of sustainability.
