WHO WE ARE:
The Enterprise Sustainability team partners with leaders and divisions across the Hallmark enterprise (Hallmark Global, Crayola, Crown Media (Hallmark Channel) and Crown Center), to build environmental leadership into business operations, supply chain, and products. We oversee the implementation of the enterprise sustainability vision, which is a top enterprise priority. This team drives progress on science based target commitments, builds a sustainable culture through strategic communications and education, and helps Hallmark & Crayola deliver on their purposes as sustainable and caring brands.
AN OVERVIEW:
Hallmark and its brands have a long history of sustainable action. This includes a strong focus on sustainable forestry, renewable energy developments, and waste/water/energy reduction initiatives. We have now elevated our sustainability vision with an approved science based target for 2030; an international commitment to significantly reduce our enterprise greenhouse gas emissions.
This Enterprise Sustainability Manager reports to the VP Enterprise Sustainability and supports the launch and implementation of the enterprise sustainability vision. This includes driving and measuring progress of all business entities (Crown Media, Crayola, Hallmark Global, and Crown Center) toward the 2030 greenhouse gas reduction goals, as well as adapting the enterprise strategy and goals as new climate science emerges.
The Enterprise Sustainability Manager also identifies and implements new sustainability tools, programs, and capabilities within the enterprise to enable our vision. This may include driving improvements on data collection for enterprise footprints, building life cycle assessment capabilities to measure product and packaging emission improvements projects, and partnering with supply chain partners in Hallmark & Crayola to drive supplier adoption of renewable energy.
This role builds and maintains relationships with sustainability consultants, industry coalitions, environmental groups, and sustainability organizations, as enablers to the implementation and growth of Hallmark’s sustainability strategy. He or she leverages these networks to build the Hallmark & Crayola brand names in the sustainability arena and identify sustainability best practices for implementation.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree OR a minimum 7+ years of work experience in sustainability, environmental science, engineering, supply chain, or other closely related field.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree – MBA, Environmental Science, Sustainability, or other closely related fields
- Experience deploying an enterprise sustainability strategy and analyzing enterprise sustainability metrics.
- Strong influence skills and comfort leading cross-functionally, including without direct authority
- Life cycle assessment (LCA) experience to support product & packaging innovation and redesign efforts.
- Experience implementing a supplier renewable energy program
- Experience working with a range of external stakeholders (NGOs, suppliers, government entities, industry groups) to enable business or sustainability strategies.
- Excellent project management and data analysis capabilities, especially as it relates to completing global greenhouse gas footprints or prioritizing and implementing sustainability systems and initiatives.
