Overview

The Sustainability Engineer will play a key role in assuring the sustainability of all our products. The individual will work closely with our design and development team to ensure that all products are developed for maximum sustainability. The individual will research and validate optimized materials, process or other innovations that make our products more sustainable. Life Cycle Assessment will be used to gain a thorough understanding of impacts, and to guide our Design/Engineering team. The individual will also work closely with key suppliers to ensure sustainability requirements are being met through the supply chain.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Design for Environment (DFE) process within new product development
  • Propose, research and validate innovative methods/materials to increase sustainability
  • Coordinate sustainability certification (such as ANSI/BIFMA LEVEL for products and TRUE Zero Waste for factories), including working with internal teams to meet the requirements, preparing documentation, facilitating the audit.
  • Perform annual Greenhouse Gas calculations, verification and disclosure to the CDP.
  • Maintain monthly tracking of impacts of sustainability from each factory, and progress toward their sustainability goals.

Qualifications

  • Passion for sustainability.
  • Project leadership skills
  • Min bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering
  • Min 8 years working in product development for mass produced goods
  • Proficient in Solidworks
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience meeting regulatory and audit requirements
  • Basic understanding of Life Cycle Assessment is a bonus
