JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Purpose

Intercontinental Exchange is looking for a Reference Data Specialist to join our Reference Data Operations team based in New York, The primary purpose of this position is to support the team by providing subject matter expertise on all ESG matters. The candidate’s primary responsibility will be to analyze and interpret various ESG data sets, conduct thematic analysis of ESG content, consolidate results and relate findings to management. You will make recommendations pertaining to content development and methodology based on market trends, disclosure frameworks, and ESG bests practices. You will liaise and collaborate with various stakeholders such as our training team, business analysts, data quality and customer support to improve the quality, completeness, timeliness, and breadth of the ESG data set. You will conduct detailed mapping exercises linking ICE ESG data set to other ESG frameworks.

The fixed income and equities market consists of over 35 million active securities and the reference data provided by ICE Fixed Income & Data Services is used by our clients to make trading decisions, settle trades, make investment decisions, manage portfolios, analyze risk, create security master files, create client statements and conduct other back-office functions. Our reference data is also used by internal stakeholders such as the Evaluated Pricing, Index and Analytics groups which play an integral role in determining evaluated prices, determining whether or not a security should be added to or deleted from an index or indices, the weighted average of a security within an index and, performing a series of analytical calculations that are used both internally within ICE and externally by these stakeholders’ clientele.

Responsibilities

Serve as an internal ESG subject matter to educate RDO on ESG landscape and evolving trends
Support ESG data set by developing content and methodology based on regulations and ESG disclosure frameworks
Respond to external and internal inquiries regarding ESG data as well as product capabilities in a timely manner
Mentor and support staff for day-to-day client needs
Work collaboratively with other senior members to identify and strategize on current and new client ESG projects
Create and present detailed root cause analysis reports with corrective recommendations
Identify opportunities in current processes, conduct GAP analysis to quantify issues and recommend alternative solutions that will optimize process and/or improve the completeness, timeliness, and quality of the data set
Monitor market, research, and inform RDO of evolving ESG issues, regulations, and protocols to anticipate client impact and needs
Work with business analyst team to create requirements documents needed to enhance databases to support new content required for regulations, new structures, and new attributes.
Work with training team to create methodologies, policies and procedures needed to support new content required for regulations, new structures, and new attributes.
Improve accuracy, completeness, and timeliness metrics by analyzing reference data content for erroneous patterns and identifying process improvements for the team
Identify and assess potential new data sources for accuracy, completeness, and timeliness usefulness.
Attend industry webinars, conferences and otherwise stay current on ESG regulations, trends, and developments

Knowledge and Experience

BA/BS in Finance, Economics, or equivalent practical experience (excluding India)
Minimum 5 years of ESG experience focused on maintaining, calculating, tracking, and implementing new methodology and content
Strong understanding and experience reporting under ESG frameworks, including but not limited to SASB, CDP and TCFD
Excellent computer skills, including Excel, Word, Power Point, with the ability to manage, interpret, and report on highly fragmented, often voluminous data.
Very strong communication skills as well as the ability to articulate complex strategies and ESG related terms for a generalist audience
Ability to work in a fast paced, high pressured, fluid environment
Ability to distill large amounts of varied information into specific takeaways
Excellent attention to detail and high degree of demonstrated decision-making and problem-solving skills
Strong analytical skills
Eagerness to learn and collaborate with others
