Position Overview:

JOB PURPOSE:
Reporting to the Director Global Compliance and Sustainability, the Manager Environmental Compliance & Sustainability will assist with implementing JELD-WEN’s Global environmental compliance and sustainability programs. This includes assisting JELD-WEN Business Units with ensuring their operations comply with national, county, provincial, and state regulatory requirements and implementing JELD-WEN’s sustainability initiatives.

Experience with MS Suite of products, e.g., Excel, Access, Minitab, PowerPoint, Project & Visio required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist the Director Global Environmental Compliance and Sustainability with:

  • Implementing JELD-WEN’s global compliance strategy and assist operations with meeting or exceeding our environmental compliance objectives.
  • Implementing JELD-WEN’s global sustainability efforts inclusive of data management, goal setting, project initiation & management, and program development to support CSR reporting and sustainable operational processes.
  • Developing strategies to address sustainability issues such as energy use, resource conservation, recycling, pollution prevention, greenhouse gas reduction, waste elimination, transportation, and facility design.
  • Developing global environmental and sustainability policies and standards to facilitate the global EH&S sustainability and compliance strategy.
  • Preparing and publishing sustainability reports, and presentations for employees, customers suppliers, and other groups.
  • Identifying potential sustainability projects or programs to enhance JELD-WEN’s sustainability initiatives and meet sustainability goals.
  • Identifying educational, training, or other development opportunities for EH&S staff and other JELD-WEN employees.
  • Developing proposals for environmental or sustainability projects, considering factors such as cost effectiveness, technical feasibility, integration with other initiatives and goal attainment.
  • Providing analysis of environmental regulatory changes and develop compliance guidance to Business Unit EH&S and operations leaders.
  • Developing education and training programs for business unit EH&S Managers and other affected employees to assist with meeting sustainability and compliance goals & objectives.
  • Developing and managing EH&S compliance and sustainability metrics, reports and dashboards for corporate & BU leaders.
  • Monitoring BU and site corrective action plans.
  • Supporting the environmental and sustainability modules in MyEHS (Benchmark), e.g., compliance calendar.
  • Writing project proposals, grant applications, or other documents to pursue funding for environmental initiatives.
  • Assisting BU’s and sites with incidents, inspections, enforcement action tracking and closure of any regulatory requirements.
  • Analyzing BU compliance data for trends, programs and corrective actions required to improve compliance to abate compliance issues and meet JELD-WEN’s
  • EH&S compliance goals.
  • Monitoring and evaluating effectiveness of sustainability programs.
  • Participating in Global EH&S audits to evaluate compliance with JELD-WEN and National/Country environmental requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BS Environmental Science, Engineering or similar
  • Certified Professional Engineer (PE), CHMM
  • 5 – 7 years of environmental and project management experience
  • Understanding of EH&S Management Systems, e.g., ISO 14001, ANSI Z-10, or ISO 45001
  • Experience with using web-based systems to support EH&S, e.g., Enablon, Gen-Suite, or similar systems desired
  • Understanding of Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Standards, Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) and CSR reporting
  • Experience implementing environmental and sustainability programs
  • Strong communication, presentation, training, and facilitation skills are essential
  • Exemplary customer service skills and attention to detail
  • Led or participated in environmental audits
  • Advanced to expert skills using the Microsoft suite, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Project
  • Significant knowledge of U.S. Environmental laws and regulations and International knowledge desired
  • Strong analytical skills to analyze environmental data
