Position Overview:

SUMMARY

The Sustainability Analyst is responsible for supporting the development and implementation of JOANN’s environmental, social, and corporate governance (ESG) program, including project and program management, researching of ESG trends and issues, and compiling and analyzing key ESG metrics and data. This role will interact on a day-to-day basis with Team Members from across the company to deliver on key ESG priorities including but, not limited to, greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions inventories and reduction strategies, climate and ESG-related public reporting and disclosures, and product sustainability/circularity initiatives.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES

  •  Support annual GHG emissions inventory efforts including Scope 1, Scope 2, and Scope 3 related data collection and coordination with external vendor
  •  Collect and analyze ESG baseline metrics to support JOANN’s ESG strategy implementation
  •  Support climate and ESG-related reporting by drafting content, preparing presentations, and compiling data to meet TCFD, SASB, GRI and/or CDP requirements
  •  Work with cross-functional teams to identify, implement, and track emissions reduction strategies including energy management and circularity
  •  Participate in existing internal teams to advance key social and governance company priorities
  •  Monitor peer companies/emerging ESG trends to position JOANN as an ESG leader
  •  Monitor state and federal policy relative to ESG to assess impact on business operations and objectives
  • Manage interns as required

WORKING CONDITIONS

Some travel may be required, primarily for conferences and trainings.

•     Strong analytical skills including quantitative analysis
•     Practical, business-minded approach to problem solving
•     Exceptional interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
•     Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Education Minimum: Bachelor’s Degree in business management, economics, government, communication, environmental science or related field
Education Preferred: Graduate Degree with relevant focus area for strategic and technical areas of ESG and/or quantitative methods

Experience Minimum: 0-2 years experience in corporate responsibility, ESG, sustainability, or policy roles
