Position Overview:
Reporting to the Head of Supplier Sustainability, the Sustainable Procurement Lead is responsible for providing subject matter expertise as it pertains to the topic of sustainability (balancing environmental, social and governance considerations), helping to develop Global Supplier Services sustainability strategy, implementing the strategy and tracking progress towards goals. Position will be focused on data gathering, analysis, supplier engagement, supplier management and reporting specific to the sustainability of JPMC’s third-party suppliers. The ideal candidate will have a strong belief in sustainability as an important business tenet, and experience with practical approaches to affect and measure change.
Strategic Requirements
- Development of Sustainable Supply Chain initiatives through the introduction of process re-engineering, demand management, supplier consolidation, and policy.
- Lead and drive enhancements and maintenance strategies to continuously improve the programs administration, process management, communications, and training.
- Think and act globally to lead and collaborate effectively on a cross-functional basis
- Resolve project level issues and escalate as appropriate.
- Maintain excellent relationships and close contact with suppliers, third party partners and internal customers.
- Manage compliance to policy and take appropriate actions
- Manage program process that ensure compliance to policy
- Promote Sourcing and Procurement, GSS and Sustainability and its benefits internally and externally
- Manage suppliers to ensure expected service levels are met
- Think and act globally to lead and collaborate effectively on a cross-functional basis
Stakeholder Management
- Work with and across stakeholder groups to define needs and aggregate wherever possible
- Act as liaison between the stakeholder and the supplier to determine if optimal approach to meeting validated business and sustainability requirements
- Provide input to stakeholders on Sustainability processes and procedures
- Provide continuous feedback to stakeholders and management regarding status of projects and initiatives
- Provide education and guidance to stakeholders regarding value of adopting and complying with purchasing policies including Sustainability, procedures, tools, and processes
- Collaborate with internal subject matter experts and engage them to actively participate in on-going efforts.
- Enlists the support of leaders or experts who can enhance and reinforce the persuasiveness of one’s own efforts.
Sustainability Function
- Manage the day-to-day execution against the strategy, including delivering against specific goals and engaging suppliers and stakeholders accordingly.
- Manage supplier sustainability evaluation program and related data, reporting and supplier engagement and improvement plans.
- Manage sustainability data including:
- Gathering data from suppliers and other relevant sources
- Ensure data quality, combine data, analyze and process to support internal and external reporting
- Run internal reports as well as customer facing reports
- Support data gathering and data integration efforts across the enterprise
- Research relevant sustainability issues and topics
- Support Head of Supplier Sustainability with any additional functions necessary to drive the sustainable sourcing needs, including supporting clients/client requests, communicating on efforts, etc.
- Provide guidance, support and training to all stakeholders and suppliers
- Ensure quality and timely deliverables while managing expectations
- Manage relationships with Suppliers and ensure that the infrastructure, methods, procedures and Sustainability standards deliver top quality service to the firms and the Sustainability initiative
General/Projects
- Good knowledge of various sourcing practices and tools, and lead/support efforts to enhance the value of sourcing to the organization
- Good knowledge of Sustainability practices, processes and tools
- Perform analysis of metrics to proactively recommend improvements
- Extend the reach of Sustainable Procurement by exercising appropriate influence within project teams, customer groups, peer groups and stakeholders
- Create and lead project teams, or directly address specific issues, working with stakeholders, Sourcing, Accounts Payable, Sustainability to reach resolutions
- Ensure GSS policy and procedures are understood and adhered to
- Ensure all standards as defined by GSS and Sustainability are followed and enforced
Knowledge and Skills Requirements
- Knowledge of a wide-range of procurement operations functions including Sourcing, P2P and Sustainability
- Excellent business acumen, strategic, leadership and change management skills with proven experience
- Proven experience in change management involving system implementations and process redesign
- Demonstrated track record of high motivation and self-initiative through goals achievement
- Organizational awareness, strategic planning, team oriented, collaborative
- Key competencies — strategic planning and teamwork
- Excellent business case and negotiation and supplier management skills
- Professional written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent project management skills
- Knowledge of Procurement principles
- Excellent relationship management skills
- Strong skill in use of Microsoft Office
- Knowledge of Ecovadis, SAP or Oracle a plus
Experience Requirements
- 5+ years of sustainability or procurement experience including but not limited to management responsibilities in Sourcing, procurement operations, and Sustainability programs
Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree
