Position Overview:
Position Summary
The person selected for the Communications Coordinator – Sustainability position will provide leadership, guidance, and organizational structure/support for the East Division’s Sustainability Program. This position will assist in the organization, development and implementation of the Community Action Plans that will be established through the recently initiated Community Audit Process. This position will also serve as the Executive Assistant to the Division President. Responsibilities are listed at the bottom of the job description.
Key Responsibilities
This position will work with District management to develop procedures and objectives necessary to establish community relationships with local organizations, neighborhood associations, local governments, and other persons or organizations that may have influence on Martin Marietta’s ability to expand or achieve its long-term operational objectives. Responsibilities will include the preparation and tracking of all Sustainability initiatives that each District conducts that provide support, education and outreach within the local community. This position may also serve as a liaison between Martin Marietta and the community during public meetings or community events which demonstrate the company’s contributions to the communities that our operations serve.
This position will help identify strategic relationships and promote/educate the value and importance of mining while maintaining a working relationship within the communities that we serve.
Qualifications and Skills
- BS in Communication, Public Relations or associated field of study
- Experience in establishing/maintaining community involvement/outreach initiatives that build relationships with the local community, governmental officials and other stakeholders of influence
- Proficient in MS applications (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Proficient in the use of social media to communicate local community partnerships or provide education of Martin Marietta’s contribution to the local community
- Excellent communication skills and a self-starter with the ability to work without direct supervision
- The ability to manage and oversee multiple projects at one time
- Customer and team focused, with the ability to learn and adapt quickly
- Possess excellent written, interpersonal, organizational and problem-solving skills are a must
Additional Responsibilities
Serve as Executive Assistant providing comprehensive administrative support to the Divisional President and multiple Vice Presidents in a Division with 2000 employees. Exercise independent judgment and discretion regarding confidential matters. Use advanced computer skills to create, modify and update presentations, write memos, plan conferences/meetings/company events, reserve conference rooms, and arrange international and domestic travel. Schedule repair/maintenance service calls, and support office services. Interact with internal and external consultants, vendors, business leaders and employees.
