Position Overview:
As part of the overall management team, this position will drive the compliance with external and internal environmental processes, standards and regulations for all Martinrea locations globally.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
- Strong analytical skills
- Demonstrated experience setting priorities, goals and objectives
- Proven experience reviewing and approving financial and operational budgets
- Experience interacting with internal and external stakeholders including top level executives and public figures
- An ability to lead and facilitate meetings
- Adaptability to work with both plant and office personnel
- Post-Secondary Education in environmental engineering, environmental science, green business administration or equivalent and understanding of various sustainability frameworks (including GRI, UNGC, ISO26000, SASB, SDGs)
- 5 + years of relevant experience
- Understanding of key sustainability issues with an emphasis on Environmental topics and how they can be integrated into business to create measurable value
- Knowledge of sustainability requirements of local legislation, standards and international best practice
- Strong communicator in the English language, both written and oral
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong time management skills
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
- Automotive industry or manufacturing experience
- Project Management experience

Responsibilities:
- Assist in developing and implementing Martinrea’s Sustainability business strategy plan by standardizing and leading global ESG initiatives
- Design strategies and deliver programs to increase stakeholder engagement, awareness and commitment to sustainability, including developing and delivering training programs
- Project manage and deliver annual sustainability reporting projects in compliance with international standards, guidelines and frameworks (including GRI, UNGC, ISO26000, SASB, SDGs)
- Greenhouse gas inventory
- Carbon reduction initiatives
- Hazardous waste management initiatives
- Oversee sustainability report development, ensuring alignment with company guidelines, trends, stakeholder input & concerns and corporate strategy & directions by writing accurate and compelling content
- Assess environmental impact of company business and practices and oversee and drive environmental compliance
- Ensure that Martinrea is following global environmental regulations, working with the legal team, including assessing and implementing compliance software and advise on any laws or policies that may affect various Martinrea projects
- Take responsibility for ISO 14001 across all business units and the corporate offices as required
- Maintain current knowledge on sustainability trends, issues, opportunities and barriers within the manufacturing sector; Stay up-to-date of emerging trends and best practices, track and analyze trends in Sustainability, perform benchmarking activities for internal and external stakeholders
- Perform regular environmental audits
- Ensure our facilities maintain permits as required by local authorities
- Ensure Investigations are completed for environmental incidents and that action plans are developed & Implemented to prevent incidents
- Respond to inquiries and concerns related to EMS.
