Position Overview:
Meta’s Sustainability team drives sustainability strategy, programs and engagement across the company and with our partners. We seek an experienced Program Manager to drive the development and scaling of interventions to reduce our value chain GHG emissions. This role will be responsible for scoping, developing and implementing GHG reduction projects and active external engagement necessary to the successful delivery of Meta’s GHG emissions reduction strategy.
Sustainability Program Manager, Net Zero Reductions Responsibilities
- Identify, scope and deliver GHG reduction projects end-to-end to reduce our value chain emissions.
- Develop strategy to pilot and scale these projects at the pace required to reduce GHG emissions in line with Meta’s net zero commitments.
- Develop and negotiate commercial frameworks for Meta’s participation in GHG reduction projects and partner with legal resources to develop and refine these frameworks.
- Interface with internal organizations including sustainability, policy, communications, engineering and design, construction, legal, and finance.
- Stay informed of the technical, market, and regulatory developments that impact decarbonization solutions and communicate key trends, risks and potential impacts to management.
- Engage in ecosystem of external stakeholders to accelerate and influence the development of standards to measure and account for the reductions from these types of projects.
- Ability to travel (10%).
Minimum Qualifications
- Technical knowledge of carbon reduction strategies, technology and evaluation techniques.
- Flexible, entrepreneurial spirit with experience influencing across an organization with indirect authority.
- Effective understanding of global and sectoral sustainability initiatives.
- 10+ years of related experience in fields related to sustainability.
- Effective communication skills including communicating commercial, regulatory, market, and contractual details to all organizational levels.
Communications skills. - A self-starter, with experience diplomatically resolving issues through understanding conflicting inputs, achieving alignment, and proposing go-forward solutions.
- Experience managing multiple projects and coordinating with internal interdisciplinary teams as well as external stakeholders.
- Experience playing leadership or facilitation role in building sustainability partnerships and coalitions with NGOs.
- Undergraduate degree in environmental science, business or related field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Expertise in carbon markets.
- Master’s degree in related field (e.g. MBA, Master’s in Sustainability Management, Environmental science).
- Expertise in solutions to reduce GHG emissions from fuels, transport, and industrial gasses.
- Experience working with GHG standard and guidance development.
