Position Overview:

As part of the CO+I Zero-Waste Program team, you will drive programs to design and deliver on our sustainability targets, focusing on cross-functional relationships and interdepartmental alignment.
Microsoft’s Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) is the engine that powers our cloud services. As a CO+I Zero-Waste PM, you will perform a key role in delivering the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft’s online services including Bing, Office 365, Xbox, OneDrive, and the Microsoft Azure platform. Responsibilities
As a lobal Sustainability Program Manager – Zero Waste, your success will be measured by:
Zero Waste Operations
- Serve as the global point of contact for the Microsoft Zero-Waste Datacenters initiative.
- Mature the global strategy and roadmap for achieving key program objectives.
- Track progress toward program objectives, identify gaps and risks to success, and implement strategies to course correct as needed.
- Oversee the Zero-Waste Certification program with third-party certification body to ensure Zero Waste-to-Landfill objectives are met and maintained globally.
- Collaborate with Regional PMs to ensure standardization of effective Zero-Waste practices.
- Review data and learnings from vendor partners and regional teams and report on Zero-Waste Objectives & Key Results (OKR)s and sustainability impacts.
- Report monthly highlights, key learnings, and impacts of sustainability actions for global datacenter portfolio.
- Consolidate and report quantitative and qualitative elements of global program activities.
- Partner with the CO+I global team and local CELA Government Affairs lead on “local regulatory positioning”.
- Respond to requests for information and data from CO+I and CELA teams as needed.
- Manage external vendor partners to ensure successful collaboration.

- In alignment with management priorities, holds self-accountable for the end-to-end Zero-Waste project quality, completeness, and resulting customer experience (including but not limited to availability, safety, security, customer service).
- Supports escalation of issues to appropriate owner.

For this role, you are welcome to apply if you meet the following Required Qualifications:
- 3+ years experience in environment/sustainability, or circular economy OR a (Bachelor’s Degree AND 2+ years experience in environment/sustainability, or circular economy).
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in program/project management.
- One or more years data center operations or manufacturing experience.
While not required, we also look for the following Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced degree in business/MBA, sustainability, environmental science, or equivalent experience.
- Experience working with sustainability professionals.
- Track record of driving results through deep and resourceful collaboration.
- Able to interpret sustainability data and anecdotal feedback, synthesize, and explain to others Communicate effectively and concisely with stakeholders and leaders about our programs and objectives.
- Demonstrable impact on a global program with clear targets and milestones.
- Data management experience.
- Internet-of-Things (IoT) experience, particularly toward sustainability monitoring and reporting.
- Azure DevOps or similar experience with end-to-end product/program development software.
- 3+ years experience managing a corporate social responsibility or related program.
- 3+ years experience working in or with a large, matrixed organization.
Background Check Requirements:
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
