Position Overview:
The Role
Moderna is seeking a Manager, Supplier Sustainability, to be a key member of the Global Procurement team focused on engaging our value chain in support our environmental sustainability initiatives. The primary focus of this role will be on our Scope 3 program with specific emphasis on partnering with our top suppliers to support and track reductions in their carbon emissions.
This position is based in Moderna’s Atlanta, Georgia office.
Here’s What You’ll Do
This role will be responsible for creating, implementing and managing the following key activities:
- Scope 3 Program: Evaluate the current baseline across all scope 3 categories, create roadmaps and action plans, implement the program to drive reductions in Moderna’s scope 3 carbon footprint, and track and report improvements in alignment with expectations of the Science-based Target Initiative (SBTi).
- Top Supplier Engagement Program: Evaluate the current purchased goods and services baseline and top supplier impact, create roadmaps to engage top suppliers, implement the program to drive material reductions with current and future supply base, and track and report improvements. Top supplier engagement activities will be performed in conjunction with the Global Procurement category team and executive sponsors and will have high visibility across the Moderna senior leadership team.
- Annual Measurement and Tracking: Manage annual footprint calculation for all Scope 3 categories including updating supplier-specific factors and incorporating reduction program impacts.
- Category Strategies: Support the Global Procurement organization by building supplier sustainability metrics, goals and initiatives into category strategies across all areas of Moderna spend.
- Sourcing Initiatives: Support the Global Procurement organization by incorporating systemic evaluation of carbon impact into sourcing projects and supplier selection decisions.
- ESG Support: Be a key partner to Moderna’s Environmental Health and Safety and ESG strategy teams supporting Moderna overall ESG strategy and programs, including additional value chain outreach on water use, recycling and biodiversity.
Here’s What You’ll Need (Minimum Qualifications)
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a large or medium-sized professional procurement or supplier sustainability organization.
- Minimum 2 years of supplier sustainability experience.
- Bachelor’s degree required.

- Proficient-level skills in the following key competencies/skills: communications, project management, relationship management, influencing, negotiation, financial acumen, analytical, presentation, aptitude for technology, results-focus, professionalism, and success in a matrixed environment.
- A proven track record of savings delivery and ability to manage complexity and change.
- Ability to work in a highly metric-driven environment and deliver against challenging performance targets.
- Ability to lead through influence, recommend sourcing strategies, and deliver business results.
- Strong collaboration and communications skills required to address and resolve issues in a matrixed environment.
- Master’s degree (MBA, MS) preferred.
