Position Overview:
Morrison & Foerster LLP, an Am Law 50 law firm with 17 offices worldwide, has an opening for a Sustainability Manager in our San Francisco, Palo Alto, Los Angeles or San Diego office.
The Opportunity
It’s an exciting time to join MoFo in our brand new Sustainability Manager role! The Sustainability Manager facilitates and supports strategy development, communication, reporting and metrics around the firm’s sustainability initiatives and programs. This individual will build and develop materials for use in training and education, both internally and externally, and provide support to local sustainability efforts for offices in the U.S., Europe and Asia.
- Assist and support the Firm’s Environmental and Sustainability Steering Committee (Committee) with regard to environmental and sustainability (ES) matters relevant to the Firm.
- Facilitate, formulate and coordinate goals and initiatives to allow the Firm to meet the Committee’s objectives.
- Communicate with partners, employees, and other constituencies about ES matters on behalf of the Committee
- Support the creation of a corporate sustainability strategy that provides a roadmap for the Firm’s sustainability journey.
- Coordinate and communicate with each office in the U.S., Europe and Asia to establish and maintain local sustainability efforts.
- Develop and track the Firm’s ES goals with consideration of science-based targets
- Initiate and maintain client requested ES programs such Greenhouse Gas (GHG) accounting through communication, gathering of data and reporting.
- As directed, review and propose revisions to existing processes to ensure ES considerations are part of new projects and everyday decisions.
- As directed, develop and report ES metrics internally and to clients.
- Assist in the development of KPIs with quantitative goals and track the KPIs to help achieve them.
- Assist with GHG Emissions Assessment and CDP reporting.
- Develop training materials for both internal and external stakeholders in collaboration with other departments.
Ideal Candidate
- Bachelor’s (required) or Master’s in Sustainability, related Environmental Social and Governance disciplines, or environmental studies and sciences.
- 3 – 5 years’ experience in a position focused on sustainability or related functions.
- Extensive project management experience.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build effective internal and external client relationships.
- Talent for delivering client service through teamwork and across multiple offices and teams.
- A highly proactive, solution-oriented approach to work and interactions.
- Ability to analyze needs and to determine priorities based on multiple objectives; ability to achieve solutions under deadlines.
