Position Overview:
Position Summary
As a Sustainability Engineer, you will oversee processes and projects that help Nestle Purina achieve our environmental goals. You will lead all environmental compliance requirements with local, regional, and national agencies. You will monitor and manage the use of all energy inputs into the facility to optimize our performance and minimize our use of resources (electrical, water, gas, etc).
This position will also develop and execute all capital projects that help us to reduce our carbon footprint.
The first two years of this role are project related with the goal of planning and developing the department as we approach operational startup. This position will require travel up to 30% for the first 18 months. The travel will include training and onboarding at other Nestle Purina operating facilities and will assist with the startup of our Eden, NC plant.
- Ensure that all requirements of applicable environmental programs are implemented throughout the facility
- Execute capital projects in functional areas related to environmental compliance or continuous improvement initiatives that drive waste, energy, and water KPI’s
- Prepare and file permit applications
- Develop and coordinate internal audit plans
- Prepare and submit routine regulatory reports
- Monitor utility usage for the facility and provide guidance to area owners on how to reduce impact
- Develop and manage energy conservation programs for the facility
- Report energy results and compare with other facilities to benchmark for improvements
- Assist in creating the utilities budget
- Execute capital projects in functional areas related to environmental compliance or continuous improvement initiatives that drive waste, energy, and water KPI’s
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering in Chemical, Mechanical, Civil, Environmental or related field
- 1+ years environmental engineering experience in a manufacturing, industrial water treatment or related environment
