Role Description

The Associate, Sustainability & Strategic Sourcing will be a critical role on the Sustainability & Strategic Sourcing team, supporting the team and organization to drive ingredient-led innovation, integrating regenerative agriculture into product design, engaging with key suppliers and farmers, and leading the sustainability reporting process. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Sustainability & Strategic Sourcing, responsibilities will include:

  • Assist with driving ingredient-led innovation and integrating regenerative agriculture (RA) strategy into product design
    • Support in finding first-to-market product opportunities with strategic sourcing and value chain development
    • Assist with identifying ingredients and suppliers to develop unique textures, flavors or applications
    • Partner with team to solve challenges stemming from ingredients
    • Assist the regenerative agriculture scorecard rollout with key suppliers and farmers, leading supplier engagement to achieve science-based targets
    • Support ‘beyond the farm gate’ ingredient logistics
    • Lead transparency mapping for ~80% of ingredient volume, leveraging RA scorecard and other relevant supplier tools
  • Lead and support sustainability reporting
    • Lead sustainability reporting, collecting and analyzing data on key sustainability measures
    • Develop reporting processes and tactics, leading collection and analysis
    • Support the implementation for a Climate Positive Plan with science-based targets
  • Support sustainability communications and research
  • Perform other projects as assigned

Position Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in sourcing, sustainability, and/or CPG commercialization role
  • Bachelor’s degree required (ideally in a relevant field such as Supply Chain, Sustainability, Food Science, Business or Economics)
  • Ability to manage multiple time-sensitive projects and diverse stakeholders, internally and externally
  • High attention to detail with proven process mapping capabilities
  • Strong analytical skills and able to synthesize complex topics into executive level communication
  • Creative problem solver and self-motivated partner with a strong entrepreneurial drive and ability to collaborate cross-functionally
  • Experience with sustainability reporting standards, frameworks and certifications
  • Experience working with farmers
  • Travel expected around 10-25%
  • A passion for natural food and healthy eating as well as a desire to change the way we think about ingredient labels

Compensation will be competitive for the ideal candidate. Due to current COVID restrictions, you must be able to work remotely at your own designated location with sufficient internet access to support video conferencing. You must also be willing and able to work at our Mill Valley office in the future. As of present, the majority of our workforce is working remotely.
