We are seeking a Sr. Manager, Sustainable Sourcing and Climate Action to join our client services team. This will be a remote position with a preference for individuals in the Mid-Atlantic region. In this position you will be serving a global client account where you will partner to develop an innovative and data-driven program in alignment with their global corporate climate strategy. As a sustainable business leader, you will work with sustainability specialists, procurement managers, and on-site stakeholders in the field to engage the organization and deliver practical support that will translate to measurable scope 3 carbon reduction in the supply chain via purchased goods and services. This is a contract-dependent position with a one year committed term and potential for extension.

Key Responsibilities:
The environmental sustainability lead will make recommendations and deliver a program to reduce climate impacts in the value chain through alignment with the client’s sustainable sourcing strategy. You will:
- Develop, secure appropriate approvals, implement and manage a program for sustainability initiatives and staff awareness in procurement roles
- Rely on your experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals, while working closely with client stakeholders on a plan and performance goals.
- Partner with sustainability, facilities and procurement teams to operationalize a sustainable sourcing playbook
- Provide analysis of initiative progress and measurable results, recommending actions and implementing solutions
- Gather and share regular progress updates from different countries with key business stakeholders, measure program outcomes and identify areas for improvement or scale
- Participate in the development of the broader account sustainability strategy in line with current and emerging client needs
- Monitor and provide Sodexo and our clients with industry and regulatory trends applicable to our services across multiple geographic regions.
- Connect with knowledge building efforts to contribute and learn from best practices within the wider sustainability community across Sodexo and client globally.
Is this opportunity right for you? We are looking for candidates who have:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in the relevant field or equivalent experience
- 5-10 years of leading Environmental Sustainability initiatives in a global business environment
- Knowledge of climate leadership strategies and basic knowledge of carbon accounting
- Ability to analyze and propose data-driven solutions
- Strong analytical skills to sift through multiple information sources and translate information to impact with targeted action plans,
- Experience with business reporting, and the ability to measure and communicate progress effectively to key stakeholders
- Experience delivering an organizational transformation program across geographic and organizational boundaries
- Strong consultative mindset and stakeholder engagement approach
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills – ability to interface with all levels of the organization
- The ability to travel up to 20% as needed

Position Summary
The GSA Environmental Sustainability Lead shall make proactive recommendations to reduce climate impacts in the value chain through alignment with client Sustainable Sourcing Program and Strategy program, monitor and provide Sodexo with industry and regulatory trends applicable to our services in the regions. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of complex tasks requiring creativity and latitude.
- Demonstrate management commitment to support and provide a rigorous sustainability program.
- Develop, secure appropriate approvals, implement and manage a program for sustainability initiatives and staff awareness in procurement roles.
- Provide analysis of initiative progress and measurable results, recommending actions and implementing solutions.
- Participate in the development of the account strategy in line with current and emerging client needs.
- Gather regular updates from each region, working with the country / cluster leads to ensure they include all relevant sustainability activity from the time period.
Qualifications & Requirements
Basic Education Requirement: Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience
Basic Functional Experience: 3 years
