The Role: Head of ESG Data
Grade: 14 (relevant for internal applicants only)
The Location: United States & India Locations
The Team: In this role you will lead the ESG Data Management Group; responsible for shaping and leading a global team managing ESG data strategy, governance, operations and transformation. You will be a key senior leader of S1 and a member of the Sustainable1 Product, Research & Operations leadership team.

Responsibilities:
- Create and organize a strong data management team. Foster a people first environment and champion positive change, while maintaining existing levels of engagement. Deeply understand talent, regularly coach, provide upskilling, and facilitate new experiences and talent pathways for colleagues. Incentivize data quality; leverage and grow deep ESG expertise across data organization.
- Effectively manage data from the Corporate Sustainability Assessment, Trucost, S&P Global divisions and external sources to produce and evolve the S&P Global Sustainable1 ESG and climate data portfolio.
- Dramatically increase data sources; utilize advanced data collection and extraction techniques to build the best-in-class disclosure and data library. Drive key automation initiatives leveraging cutting-edge digital technologies like machine learning, natural language processing, and RPA to scale data operations.
- Operationalize and implement data governance and lifecycle standards (Ingestion, Linking, Deduplication & Enablement into Product) utilizing capabilities such as Safe Agile, Automation, workflow & technology management, resource allocation, onboarding & retention, and performance/talent management.
- Translate Sustainable1 strategy into specific actionable goals and targets for the Data Management organization, while articulating the value, the ‘why’, being added to the overall business strategy. Oversee creation of internal and external business performance measures, including timeliness, accuracy, overall coverage comprehensiveness, and data item coverage in partnership with Data Quality and Operations Leads.
- Promote active communication to all levels within the organization on the health of the projects sponsored by the Data Management organization, including key progress updates to all stakeholders to ensure transparency, especially around risks, content quality gaps and successes.
- Envision the future of data and continuously recalibrate the transformation strategy in line with changing customer needs. Provide and influence ESG data vision across S&P Global.
What We’re Looking For:
- A highly qualified data management leader who has a deep understanding of new age digital technologies and Sustainable1 customers and is able to solve problems creatively.
- Must have demonstrated leadership experience and ability to manage a team of subject matter experts in a fast paced and dynamic environment.
- An advanced degree (Masters or MBA) and/or 10+ years of data management and transformational leadership experience preferred.
- Experience transforming legacy delivery systems to modern service-based applications.
- Demonstrated ability to lead major initiatives.
- Ability to work strategically and collaboratively across highly complex and matrixed organization from a central corporate function.
- Effective, versatile and willing to take action.
- Leads and uses conceptual, innovative and lean thinking to solve issues.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, leadership, communication and time-management skills.
- Attentive to detail and quality oriented; ability to execute in a timely and accurate manner.
- Familiarity with SAFe agile practices preferred.
Compensation/Benefits Information (US Applicants Only):
S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $121,600 to $338,600. Base salary ranges may vary by geographic location.
In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive bonus/a sales commission plan.
