Position Overview:
Now Brewing – enterprise sustainability lead! #tobeapartner
From the beginning, Starbucks set out to be a different kind of company. One that not only celebrated coffee and the rich tradition, but that also brought a feeling of connection. We are known for developing extraordinary leaders who share this passion and are guided by their service to others.
Driven by our mission, we work together to create a positive impact in the world. Sustainability is at the core of what we do for people, the planet, and our business. We are pursuing a multi-decade commitment to become a resource positive company by storing more carbon than the company emits, eliminating waste, and replenishing more freshwater than we use.
We are looking for a passionate, expert, and strategy partner to help us support a highly matrixed, deeply passionate, global sustainability team to deliver against our 2030 sustainability targets and our overall ambition to grow our business through the lens of sustainability.
As an enterprise sustainability lead, you will…
- Project manage critical sustainability programs: Manage projects and programs that help us achieve our 2030 targets, creating connections across the enterprise and industry to maximize impact.
- Support strategic relationships to advance programs: Maintain NGO, industry, and other stakeholder partnerships and relationships, facilitating connections across the enterprise and beyond, tracking overall engagement, and overseeing program implementation, as appropriate to achieve sustainability ambitions.
- Deliver sustainability subject matter expertise and actionable guidance: Act as part of the internal expert team providing clear, actionable insights on topics including climate, water, biodiversity, sustainable agriculture, and nature-based solutions. This will include tracking industry standards, methodology, and industry benchmarking and best practices.
- Enjoy working in a dynamic field and team: Anticipate needs and adapt to changing demands of a dynamic field, team, and enterprise. Excited to support special projects and new initiatives that support our overall road map to our 2030 targets and broader ambitions.
We’d love to hear from people with:
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field preferred, additional advanced degrees valued
- 5+ years leading environmental impact programs and projects and/or leading strategy programs, projects, and cross-functional teams in areas such as decarbonization and/or water stewardship, regenerative agriculture, and green supply chains.
- Demonstrated results working on wide ranging external partnerships with NGOs, government, other companies, and more
- Proven ability to effectively collaborate across functions and/or geographies to solve complex problems
- Ability to work in a matrix organization; handle competing priorities; influence others to deliver performance
- Strong analytical and program management skills; ability to research and synthesize various sources of information to develop a cohesive point of view
- Superb communications skills, both orally and in writing for various audiences
