What you will be doing:
Collaborate with key stakeholders through storytelling to communicate and connect Steelcase’s ESG corporate goals and objectives to how we can best support our internal and external stakeholders meeting their ESG/sustainability goals
Develop relationships and engage with a wide variety of stakeholders and partners – including customers, sales, corporate functions, product development, and communications.
Participate in the collection and analysis of market and business intelligence.
Stay abreast of the emerging trends in ESG/sustainability, health and wellbeing, and circular economy design by attending conferences, meeting regularly with key partners, participating in professional associations, and keeping current with industry publications, webcasts, and other relevant materials
Drive literacy and integration of sustainability strategy and practice and support sales by responding to customer sustainability/ESG related inquiries and assisting in the proposal process and customer engagements. Specializing in subject matter expertise in building certification standards (LEED, WELL, LBC, FitWell, BREEAM)
Contribute to internal and external sustainability communication, case studies, messaging, and corporate reporting ensuring adherence to global messaging standards.
Distinguish & communicate potential market risk areas.
Support other sustainability projects as needed
Who you are:
- Bachelor’s degree in Sustainable Business, Sustainability, Environmental Management, or related field.
- Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in a corporate sustainability role utilizing sustainability/ESG strategically in marketing and/or sales (experience in the manufacturing/furniture sector desired).
- Subject matter expertise and experience in building certification requirements, including LEED, WELL, LBC, Fitwell, and BREEAM.
- Commitment to continuous learning
- Ability to navigate complex stakeholder landscape and build effective relationships and networks with diverse cross-functional internal and external stakeholders at all organizational levels.
- Engaging written, presentation and oral communication skills (strong sustainability literacy required) in virtual and in-person environments.
- Ability to collaboratively work through ambiguous circumstances and act in a timely manner.
- Strong initiative and interpersonal abilities as well as strong judgment, problem solving, organizational, and project management skills.
- Ability to think critically and apply sustainability principles across diverse applications and business functions.
