Position Overview:

Purpose:

The primary purpose of this position is to support initiatives that create a shared value for the company, the environment and society in accordance with UNFI’s environmental, social, and governance (ESG)/sustainability strategy. The Impact Analyst will perform analysis and report on the impact of UNFI’s ESG programs and initiatives – telling the story to a diverse group of stakeholders, from UNFI associates to customers, to shareholders.

Job Responsibilities:

Reporting & Communication: Help to orchestrate the development of the Company’s annual CSR report, fostering a culture of transparency. Provide regular reports on progress against annual goals and benchmarks. Collaborate with Branding & Communications to proactively represent the brand and increase public perception of our Company.

  • Tell ESG story through relevant data.
  • Prepare dashboards with actionable data and insights for ESG team/leadership to monitor progress against ESG objectives.
  • Analyze performance across regions and locations: benchmark, prioritize and support the development of best practices to improve ESG outcomes and deliver value.
  • Ensure data completeness and quality using reporting tools, in partnership with SMEs.
  • Prepare greenhouse gas (GHG) inventory and other quantitative measures for external reporting.

Engagement & Impact: Increase engagement in/awareness of philanthropy & ESG programs.

  • Support Helping Hands teams with best practice, resources, tools and community connections.
  • Facilitate UNFI Foundation review team activities, including annual grant making process, grantee communications, and partnerships with local Helping Hands.
  • Create content for company website, trainings, campaigns, etc.
  • Monitor and report on the impact of grantmaking programs.

Job Requirements:

Education/ Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in sustainability, food & nutrition, environmental science, communications, marketing, business, finance or another related field required.

Experience:

  • 2-4 years’ work experience in corporate social responsibility (CSR) or a related field
  • Experience with Excel, Tableau, Alteryx or other data analytics software highly preferred
  • Experience with leading sustainability reporting frameworks preferred (CDP, GRI, SASB, TCFD)

Other Skills/ Abilities:

  • Advanced analytical skills with experience collecting, organizing, analyzing, and sharing abundant information with accuracy
  • Ability to work collaboratively across functions and interact with senior executives.
  • Compelling storyteller, with excellent written and oral presentation skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously with high degree of quality, speed and flexibility to changing priorities.
  • Passion for sustainability and giving back.
