Job Overview

Assist with directing and leading the coordination of all activities, initiatives, and efforts to enhance the University of Cincinnati’s institutional mission related to creating and enhancing a campus culture of sustainability through academic excellence, urban impact, and innovation.

Essential Functions

• Provide support for the university’s sustainability initiatives and work with students, faculty, and staff. Work with all campus units, offices, and divisions to integrate sustainability into all campus operations, including regional campuses.
• Serve as the university’s representative for sustainability including membership and participation, administrative support, and reporting for the City of Cincinnati Environmental Advisory Council, the university’s sustainability reporting to the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE) and Second Nature, and related sustainable programs and initiatives.
• Coordinate the President’s Advisory Council on Environmental Sustainability (PACES).
• Lead the planning and execution of sustainability related engagement and outreach events.
• Oversee the university’s waste diversion program.
• Direct the operations of the UC Bike Kitchen.
• Direct the operations of the UC Soiled Hands Learning Garden and educational partnership with the Early Childhood Learning Center.
• Serve as a possibility cartographer, responsible for mapping out the most pragmatic course for enhancing UC’s culture of sustainability and working to achieve climate action.
• May provide direct and/or indirect supervision to exempt and non-exempt staff (i.e., hiring/firing, performance evaluations, disciplinary action, approve time off, etc.).
• Perform related duties based on departmental need. This job description can be changed at any time.

Required Education

• Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Sustainability or similar field.
• Seven (7) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement.

Required Experience

• Three (3) years of related experience.
• Proficiency in computer project management software and standard office programs such as Word and Excel.
