US Foods, one of the largest Food Distribution Corporations in the nation, is seeking a Sustainability Manager. This position is responsible for establishing strategic impact priorities, leading US Foods’ Climate agenda, and reducing the environmental footprint of its operations. The successful individual will help develop goals and strategies in alignment with industry benchmarks and business goals resulting in reduction of GHGs, reduction in Food Waste and the diversion of Food Waste from landfill. S/he will lead programs required to meet stakeholder environmental goals and obligations. The successful candidate must possess strong influencing skills along with a broad knowledge of sustainability to engage various stakeholders and associates in building an awareness and culture of sustainability throughout the organization.

This role is remote which means the work can be completed from anywhere in the United States except Hawaii or United States Territories. This position will require 25-50% overnight travel.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Establish goals, implement standards, and execute programs across the organization leading to the reduction of GHG emissions.
2. Establish goals, implement standards, and execute programs across the organization leading to the reduction of Food Waste and diversion of Food Waste from Landfill.
3. Collaborate with Fleet to develop strategies and execute programs leading to the Decarbonization of fleet operations.
4. Collaborate with Facilities and Operations to develop strategies and execute programs leading to the Decarbonization of warehousing operations.
5. Ensure Compliance to Environmental Regulations at the Local, Regional and National level.
6. Seek Grants & Incentives to improve the financial performance of transformative & innovative technologies and programs.
7. Establish systems and processes necessary to meet requirements and stipulations associated with Grants and Incentives.
8. Maintain awareness of impending regulations and develop strategies and implement programs to ensure compliance with future regulations.
9. Routinely communicate performance results to stakeholders through established metrics & scorecards. Highlight and provide insights into any trends and deviations.
10. Promote and socialize the corporate sustainability agenda with internal and external audience.
11. Make recommendations to field staff and management on how to improve performance based upon the analysis of data.
12. Collaborate with Indirect Procurement to hold vendors and service providers accountable to Service Level Agreements and Pricing.
13. Direct the development and implementation of processes and projects that can potentially improve performance and/or provide a competitive advantage.
14. Industry Technical Leadership: Partner with stakeholders and suppliers to identify, develop, and implement new and innovative solutions.
15. Become involved in the industry: Engage with peer fleets, professional organizations, gov’t and non-government organizations, trade associations, and academia to benchmark, align with industry, and bring outside ideas in.

Travel approximately 25-50 % of the time. Overnight Travel required.

RELATIONSHIPS
Internal: Functional groups including Fleet, Facilities, Operations, Finance, Legal, Procurement etc.

External: Outside vendors, providers, consultants, grantors etc.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Training: BA or BS in Environmental Science, Engineering, Supply Chain, Accounting, Accounting & Finance, Accounting & Technology, Business Administration/Management, Economics, Economics and Finance, Economics and Finance & Technology, Environmental Law, Mathematics, Engineering, Computer and Information Science, Computer and Information Science & Accounting, Finance, Management Information Systems, Management Information Systems & Accounting, Sustainable Resource Management or equivalent work experience.

Related Experience: 7 years’ experience focused on managing Environmental and Sustainability programs in a large corporate environment.

The following information is provided in accordance with the Colorado Pay Equity Act. Compensation depends on experience, geographic locations, and other factors permitted by law. In Colorado, the expected compensation for this role is between $ 102,400.00 and $ 136,600.00.
