Job Description
U.S. Bank is currently seeking an ESG Program Manager, Social Impact Strategy, who will be responsible for working across the enterprise to help develop and implement U.S. Bank’s ESG Social Impact strategy. The role will work closely across several functions and business lines to define our social impact ambition level and strategy and related social impact targets and commitments. The role will also support engagement efforts with external stakeholders, including non-governmental organizations, investors, policy makers, and regulators.
Additional responsibilities for this role will include:
- Providing leadership to define, get buy-in and execute strategies to advance USB’s ESG goals and ambitions,
- Leading our Social Impact Strategy working group,
- Maintaining strong relationships within the industry, government and NGOs and other external stakeholders to understand how the overall landscape is evolving, and how USB’s strategy should evolve with it,
- Identifying, gathering, maintaining, and analyzing internal social sustainability metrics.
- Implementing processes for tracking and monitoring U.S. Bank’s progress against our social impact commitments,
- Following ESG developments, industries, and regulatory practices and communicating their relevance to leadership,
- Developing presentation materials, talking points, benchmarking, and analysis on social impact topics for engagement with internal and external stakeholders,
- Contributing to the ESG Program Office’s work on communications, strategy, research, analysis, and data collection projects as needed,
- Benchmarking performance against peers and making recommendations to improve the company’s performance across a variety of ESG and DEI ratings and rankings,
- Partnering with communications team to reinforce the company’s social responsibility position,
- Assisting with preparation of ESG reports,
- Perform other duties as needed
Basic Qualifications
- Master’s degree, or equivalent work experience
- 10 or more years of experience in project management activities
- Two or more years of managerial experience
Preferred Skills/Experience
- Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Communications, Business or related field
- 10-plus years of relevant professional experience in Corporate Responsibility, Human Resources, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, or related field.
- Expert knowledge of ESG, CSR, DEI, HR or related areas and its impact on a wide range of businesses
- Capacity to serve as a thought partner, planning partner and execution partner, comfortable assessing and, as appropriate, challenging, input, building compelling business cases for alternatives.
- Exceptional communication skills, with experience developing clear, succinct and compelling content for executive-level presentations and communications.
- Strong executive presence and ability to drive effective results working with senior leadership and stakeholders
- Understanding of current and developing DEI and Human Capital disclosures and regulations
- Program management skills with demonstrated experience in self-managing complex program delivery in a fast-paced, matrixed environment
- A self-starter, with proven experience building collaborative partnerships across a large organization
- Proven ability to influence others that reside outside of your team
- Demonstrated flexibility and willingness to learn and work on new projects
- Knowledge of banking operations and industry legal regulations and policies
- Strong organizational and analytical skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to travel up to 20%
Ideal locations for this role are Minneapolis and Charlotte, as well as anywhere in the U.S. Bank’s 26-state footprint and will work in a hybrid work model (three days in office and two from home weekly)
