About this role:
Wells Fargo is seeking an ESG Lead Specialist within Public Affairs. This role will monitor and elevate awareness of emerging societal and ESG trends and ensure Wells Fargo stays on the forefront of ESG issues. The Wells Fargo job title is Lead Social Impact & Sustainability Specialist.
In this role you will:
- Monitor, act as the first line of awareness for the team and company and develop subject matter expertise in emerging societal and ESG trends and issues
- Develop and maintain extensive knowledge of the sustainability goals and strategy of the enterprise, including social impact, government relations, public policy, legal, compliance, investor relations, finance, and businesses- supporting and coordinating the development of a cohesive sustainability-related policy positions for.
- Lead the development of enterprise views on key social issues including gathering and maintaining information on the company’s activities related to the topic.
- Coordinate with GRPP, social impact, enterprise risk and communications to develop and maintain a repository of approved statements/positions/talking points on key ESG-related issues for use with internal and external stakeholders.
- Contribute to the development of positions on proposed ESG policies and regulations, engaging with internal leadership and external stakeholders in coordination with GRPP including trade associations, policy makers, and other key stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes.
- Support and partner with GRPP in producing analysis (qualitative and quantitative) assessing the enterprise-wide implications of changes to ESG policies and regulations in support of ESG strategy and related policy positions.
- Develop and coordinate cross-functional process to identify, monitor and assess potential impacts of international ESG developments in key markets of our operations outside the U.S. and more broadly on our sustainability strategy. In addition, assist in anticipating how and whether those developments may impact domestic policies and regulations.
- Support gap assessments and related project plans to implement new ESG regulations.
- Delivers verbal and written briefings on complex ESG topics to a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Maintain a keen understanding of market and investor dynamics, with ability to present cohesive ESG strategy to key external stakeholders and shareholder groups.
- Identify, build controls, and work towards mitigating various risks that may be triggered through various ESG initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of Social Impact or Sustainability experience, demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
Desired Qualifications:
- 5+ years of sustainability, ESG, or corporate responsibility experience.
- 5+ years of working in ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) issue management, regulatory experience, or stakeholder management
- 2-5 years of leadership experience.
- Ability to simplify complex matters succinctly and thoughtfully for internal leadership and external stakeholders, including policymakers, investors, and nonprofits.
- Knack for building relationships and synergies across a diverse enterprise, to create an ESG policy approach meeting desired outcomes of an enterprise vision.
- Anticipates, accounts for, and identifies controls intended to mitigate potential risks within various ESG initiatives.
- Ability to thrive when working across a range of complex issues and learn new topics quickly across diverse subjects.
Job Expectations:
Hybrid in-office model (minimum of 3 days per week in office location)
