SUMMARY OFRESPONSIBILITIES:
The Vice President of Sustainability will be responsible for overseeing and developing the continuity of Clover Environmental Solutions sustainability strategy by coordinating and supervising sustainability activities across the organization. Additionally, they will function as a liaison for all internal and external stakeholders and will be responsible for ensuring compliance with and the proper development of standards and documentation, in collaboration with corporate leaders and in accordance with organizational objectives. The Vice President will create value by working with the business development team to engage and provide leads through contacts and relationships with prospective customers’ sustainability teams. This role requires a strong understanding of sustainability trends, a deep network within the sustainability sector, and exceptional sales and relationship-building skills.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
External
- Develop and implement a sustainability strategy that is both aligned with the company’s goals and is of commercial value to Clover’s current and targeted customer base.
- Drive new customer opportunities, leveraging the eco-friendly remanufacturing offering of the company –VP will have business development performance goals.
- Engage with the broader sustainability community to build partnerships for each company division and provide contacts and opportunities for the business development team.
- Develop and deliver proposals that demonstrate the value proposition of the company’s sustainability offering and products.
Internal
- Engage in developing and reviewing all sustainability reporting, including data collection, analysis, verification, and documentation for internal and external ESG reporting (or similar).
- Ensure timely and accurate submission of sustainability reports and disclosures for various authorities and certification organizations.
- Monitor organizational KPIs and report progress to leadership.
- Establish a realistic sustainability roadmap and define clear policies and guidelines to meet the company’s ESG and sustainability objectives.
- Monitor and evaluate the impact of existing and emerging sustainability regulations, standards, and best practices aligned with company operations, performance, and reputation.
- Advise and share expertise with stakeholders across the company to improve our internal sustainability program and continue to improve our sustainable product offering to customers.
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:
- Bachelor’s degree in sustainability, environmental science, or a related field required. Master’s degree preferred.
- Proven ability to identify and develop new business opportunities, with particular emphasis on leveraging sustainable practices as a core part of their value proposition with customers.
- At least 8-10 years of relevant experience in sustainability reporting, auditing, or consulting, preferably in a large corporation. Global experience a plus.
- Industry experience in environmental services, waste management, recycling, resource recovery, circularity and reverse logistics ideal
- Knowledge and experience in global environmental standards and frameworks, such as the UN Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs), the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB), Corporate Climate-related Disclosures (IFRS Sustainability Disclosure standards) -, and others.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills and the ability to manage complex and diverse sustainability reporting issues.
- Experience designing or redesigning a sustainability program.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with senior management, business units, external auditors, and other stakeholders.
- High level of integrity, professionalism, and ethical standards and the ability to uphold the Clover’s values and reputation.
- Experience and ability to work with cross-disciplinary teams.
- Business related travel up to 25%.
