About EarthX

EarthX is an international nonprofit environmental organization dedicated to educating and inspiring people and organizations to take action towards a more sustainable future worldwide. Our flagship event, the EarthX Congress of Conferences held annually in the Spring was developed to bring together governments, business leaders and a diverse array of attendees to cut across industry and political silos to bridge perspectives, leverage expertise, and foster multi-partisan collaboration that drives progress toward environmental solutions.

As EarthX scales for greater global impact, we are seeking a dynamic and strategic Vice President of Business Development to join our team.
Role Overview The Vice President of Business Development will serve as a senior leader responsible for growing EarthX’s role as a premier convener within the global sustainability ecosystem. This individual will independently identify, cultivate, and close high-impact convening and co-location partnerships with membership organizations, corporate sustainability networks, and sector associations and coalitions—attracting their annual meetings, summits, and member events to the EarthX Congress of Conferences. Their team will build relationships with commercial event partners and third-party site-selection firms that influence where these organizations host their events. This individual will build and lead a growing Business Development team to support this strategy.

This position will work directly with and report to EarthX’s CEO, partnering closely with executive leadership, programming, and events teams to set and execute a conference business development strategy. The ideal candidate is a senior, mission-aligned business development leader with an established network of both executive and events/convening contacts within the sustainability ecosystem, and brings experience with conference business development, associate or membership-organization partnerships or event sales—especially within sustainability, environmental, or purpose driven sectors. The role is ideally based in or able to travel to Dallas, TX approximately 5-7 days/month.

  • Identify, pitch, negotiate, and close convening, co-location, and sponsorship agreements with membership organizations, corporate sustainability networks, and sector associations and coalitions across energy, tech, finance, manufacturing, and consumer goods sectors
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to define convening and co-location terms, cost-sharing models, room-block and venue economics, and partner ROI metrics
  • Draft compelling, customized proposals and operational one-pagers
  • Build and maintain a robust pipeline of leads through research, referrals, networking, and outbound prospecting
  • Cultivate long-term relationships with partner organizations and their events teams, identifying opportunities for year-round engagement and multi-year convening commitments
  • Represent EarthX at industry events and sustainability forums to network with potential partners and stay on top of sector trends
  • Serve as a direct, senior-level conduit between EarthX and C-Suite/CSO leadership at key sustainability organizations, leveraging existing contacts to open doors at the highest level
  • Build and manage relationships with commercial event partners and third-party site-selection firms

Relationship Management & Event Execution

  • Work cross-functionally with content, marketing, and operations teams to ensure delivery of partner and convening commitments and seamless execution
