Job Description
This position will play a key leadership role in Company X’s ESG/Sustainability mandatory and voluntary non financial reporting and disclosures, ensuring alignment with current framework’s dynamic regulatory requirements, providing oversight for data collection, governance and assurance, and engagement with ESG ratings agencies.
Responsibilities
ESG Strategy, Reporting & Data (50%)
- Support the refresh of Company X’s ESG/Sustainability strategy and its operationalization and performance
- Supports the collection and internal reporting on progress toward new HLM public and internal goals and commitments
- Develop a data governance and review process for all data sets and content to be disclosed publicly in partnership with internal audit and comptrollers’ office
- Manage reporting assurance process for all ESG/ HLM data reported publicly
- Monitor the global policy and regulatory landscape and proactively identify emerging regulations that may require ESG reporting or disclosures as a dimension of compliance in partnership with corporate secretary, comptrollers office, internal audit, compliance, and government affairs. Stay abreast of new developments in ESG reporting laws and regulations
- Monitor and share best practices on environment, social and governance reporting trends to provide insights and recommendations on advancing Company X’s Sustainability reporting practices
- Support Company X’s future commitment to the UN Global Compact and related reporting requirements
- Valuate SaaS platforms/tools that support the collection and reporting of ESG related data across the enterprise in partnership with key ESG stakeholders
Disclosure Strategy, Ratings & Ranking (25%)
- Support the implementation of Company X’s ESG Rating Agency engagement strategy and engagement approach
- Lead gap analysis of content ESG-related disclosures that will yield enhanced ESG scores
- Support submission to investor ESG rating questionnaires (S&P CSA, etc.)
- Oversee reporting requests from key collaborations and articulate data needs and timelines to key internal partners such as Packaging, Commercial teams, R&D, Supply Chain and Procurement
- Oversee development of ESG voluntary and mandatory nonfinancial reporting and disclosures in line with regulations and frameworks including CSRD, GRI, CDP, SASB, TCFD/TNFD, and the SEC disclosures
- Participate in working group to develop Company X’s approach and response to the Taskforce on Climate-Related Financial Disclosure (TCFD), including climate-risk related scenario analysis and mitigations strategies; lead content development for reporting of TCFD, including peer benchmarking
Internal/External Communications & Stakeholder Engagement (25%)
- Support communication campaigns for internal and external audiences on the ESG/ Sustainability program, milestones, and impact
Requirements
- Robust technical understanding of relevant mandatory and voluntary reporting frameworks (GRI, SASB, ESRS and TDFC), rating agencies (MSCI, S&P, CSA, CDP, etc) and standards
- 7-8 years of relevant experience in corporate sustainability and ESG reporting
- Experience with global multi-branded and/or FMCG-type businesses preferred
- Familiarity with the ESG regulatory landscape and nonfinancial reporting, climate-risk related disclosure requirements that may impact Company X, and ability to proactively provide guidance on evolving trends
- Experience leading data governance
- Experience leading third party data assurance process
- The individual must be a self-starter, highly collaborative, and capable of distilling complex ideas into actionable business outcomes
- Excellent communicator with an aptitude to think and react quickly, with poise and accuracy, excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Analytical, problem-solving, negotiation and organizational experience
- A self-starter, with proven experience to diplomatically resolve issues through understanding conflicting views, achieving alignment, and proposing solutions
- Experience in cross-functional team leadership and/or a clear track record of effective leadership by influence is required
- At ease with navigating complexity and changing environments; able to think broadly and across dimensions to identify solutions
- Global sensibility, possessing the intuition and understanding to partner effectively cross-culturally to establish deep credibility as experienced and thoughtful leader and organizational change agent
- Serves as a role model for developing trusting relationships and collaborative work environment that is diverse and inclusive
- Demonstrates and inspires behaviors that reinforce the Company X Values and Culture
- Create a culture of accountability and continuous improvement
- Clear track record of effective people management, including growing and developing a talent pipeline
- Job requires limited travel up to 20%
Salary
- Commensurate with experience. The anticipated base pay range for this position is $150,000 – $200,000
