Job Description

Join Company X as an LCA Practitioner II, ATS, where you will be integral to our Advanced Technical Services team, leading sophisticated sustainability analyses for high-profile clients across diverse industries. In this role, you’ll conduct data analysis, model environmental impacts, and prepare detailed reports, contributing directly to the creation and verification of detailed LCA models and reports for clients. Leveraging tools like openLCA, Excel, Python, and in-house software, you’ll collect and interpret complex data to provide strategic recommendations, engage directly with clients to clarify assessment processes and gather critical data, and manage administrative tasks such as entering projects into project management software and maintaining client records. This role will join a team that uses state-of-the-art geographic information systems (GIS) and Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) calculators to help companies meet rigorous sustainability goals. Responsibilities

  • Conduct data analysis and modeling
  • Interpret results of analysis and make recommendations
  • Prepare written reports based on results
  • Work with clients to gather data required to conduct assessments
  • Ensure assessment documentation client records are properly executed and maintained
  • Perform reviews of reports and analyses
  • Communicate with clients about the assessment process and requirements
  • Answer client questions and concerns; document communications
  • Assist in the creation and/or maintenance of program documents
  • Complete assigned research tasks independently and summarize as needed to management
  • Maintain expertise suitable to complete studies in major widely used conventional methodologies applicable to your focus area (e.g., ISO 14044, ISO 14025)
  • Estimate time and effort required to complete projects, in consultation with manager, to help track towards timeliness and profitability
  • Represent Company X at conferences in a technical role as needed
  • Execute projects independently within deadlines and profitability targets, including tracking of hours and budget spent on projects, working with manager to ensure timeliness and project profitability
  • Provide comments and proposed revisions on technical standards
  • Maintain expertise suitable to complete studies in Company X methodologies applicable to your focus area
  • Maintain awareness of other relevant Company X standards in the corporate sustainability field, even those not tied to your focus area
  • Assists with project scoping and proposal preparation
  • Author white papers as needed, under direction of manager

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in scientific discipline or engineering and
  • 5+ years of professional experience in a position requiring LCA modeling and work involving extensive quantitative data analysis or
  • PhD in scientific discipline or engineering and
  • 2+ years of professional experience in a position requiring LCA modeling and work involving extensive quantitative data analysis or
  • 2+ years of increasing responsibility as an LCA Practitioner I
  • Experience analyzing both experimental and modeled data sets
  • Experience modeling LCA in an LCA software like openLCA

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency in programming in Python for models, algorithms, and code reviews
  • Deep expertise in climate science, environmental science, and/or computational sustainability
  • Working knowledge in machine learning and artificial intelligence for sustainability and climate
  • Published research work as articles or technical reports in academic conferences or industry circles

Estimated Annual Salary
$80,000 – $100,000 – Exempt
