Job Description

This role supports the development and delivery of sustainable solutions that address key challenges and opportunities that Company X’s clients face in the Nature field, ensuring that the proposed delivery meets clients’ needs. Your mission will be to maintain Company X at the cutting-edge of your area of expertise to maximize the quality and impact of our advice to transform our clients, and to continuously improve our offerings.

You will be expected to deliver on nature-related client projects, to actively engage in business development, and to support our communities of expertise in developing materials and managing knowledge to maximize the quality and impact of our nature-related services (biodiversity, water, climate, plastic pollution, land…) to transform our clients and help solve global environmental challenges.

 

Responsibilities

  • Be a subject matter expert for Company X regarding questions related to water, biodiversity and land
  • Deliver environmental assessments (notably footprints and risks) and contribute to strategy development and implementation (target-setting, roadmaps, action plans) as part of client projects
  • Contribute to multiple client projects including significant projects at key account level, ensuring the quality in the delivery of your expertise in projects or in proposals through technical & quality control but also in scoping work to deliver
  • Develop credible, trusted relationships with senior client project contacts
  • Support sales process on complex, significant opportunities at key accounts, scoping the work to deliver

Requirements

  • You’re motivated to put your technical expertise to work towards our mission of aligning businesses with Planetary Boundaries.
  • You have 5+ years of professional experience within a consulting, academic or not-for-profit organization or corporate related to nature assessments, strategy development and project implementation.
  • You are at ease with data analytics and spatial analyses (using software such as R, Python, or Google Earth), already performing or willing to learn to conduct footprint and risk assessments across a broad range of environmental topics, namely biodiversity, climate, water, land, and plastic pollution
  • You can communicate complex sustainability issues and opportunities for business value in clear and actionable ways
  • You are a subject matter expert on water, land and biodiversity topics, motivated by building this field of expertise and training others at Company X.
  • You have demonstrated experience in applying the most recent methodologies and frameworks in the nature field (e.g., SBTN, TNFD, water and biodiversity risk assessment etc.)
  • You have been exposed to collaborative project/program development and implementation in the Nature field
  • You have a science-based orientation, and a deep intellectual and business curiosity, combined with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate complex information in clear, understandable ways to internal and external audiences.
  • You’re motivated for teamwork and supporting a team.
  • You’re able to use your technical experience to provide technical support, coaching, and technical review both internally and externally.
  • You get excited about guiding companies to understand and design transformative and science-based strategy.
  • You have a master’s and/or PhD degree in environmental sciences, engineering, or other related field of education.
  • You have demonstrated the ability to coach, teach, and mentor others with your knowledge and skills, in an academic and/or corporate setting.
